Posted on October 29, 2013, Phil Hornshaw Where’s Game Front’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Review?
Simply put: Our Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag review is on its way.
As you may or may not know, web publications like Game Front often work with publishers in order to get early copies of games for review, with the eye to have the review ready at launch (or at the lifting of an agreed-upon embargo, whichever comes first). Sometimes, those interactions break down through simple mistakes, lost emails and other minor issues, and that was the case here — in essence, we didn’t get an early copy of AC4, and so there’s no review today.
What that means to interested players like you is that our review is going to be a bit late, as I’m actually headed out to my local games seller this morning to pick up a copy. After that, I’ll be locked in a room with a Playstation 3 and enough vitamin C to stave off any scurvy whilst making my way around the Caribbean, dispensing pirate justice (as well as pirate injustice). We’ll be working to get the review live as quickly as possible, but it’s going to be a few days. As for our PC review of the game — that’s going to take even longer, since the PC version isn’t out for a few weeks.
Game Front is committed to taking our time and getting things right with our reviews, which is why you sometimes see delays even after games are launched and embargoes are lifted. Without the embargo pressure on Assassin’s Creed IV, we’re going to be extra sure we’ve got it right when we finally lay down our official review on the game. We hope that philosophy makes sense to you, and we’ll get it done as quickly as possible. In the meantime — stay tuned, and be sure to keep an eye on all the secrets, cheats and walkthrough content we’ll be churning out for AC4 this week.
