Posted on October 17, 2011, Phil Hornshaw ‘White Night’ Mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent Has a Story To Tell
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a story about regaining a character’s memory, but also with monsters and other scary-type horror stuff. “White Night,” a total conversion mod for Amnesia, is something altogether different. It’s not even a horror story, but it is a story.
White Night recasts Amnesia in an old asylum, with a character who has — guess what — Amnesia. But this story is more about the mystery and stress of such a situation. It’s a thriller, not a horror game, so bear that in mind. Here’s a bit of description from its creator, Tashaydar:
White Night is a completely story oriented game, created by Tanshaydar; where you embody someone who has no memory, someone who tries to find what really happened and someone who does not know what or who to believe. White Night is not created to be a ‘scary game’, therefore to scare players is not its main concern; but it is created to tell a story, thus have a little different way of story-telling which you need to follow carefully. Exploration is always awarded.
And here’s a trailer for it, although you might be better off with no foreknowledge whatsoever. Make sure you also have Amnesia patch 1.20 (Justine) for the mod to work.
