CBCnews has the scoop on how the new Wii is being used in physical therapy at a rehab hospital in Edmonton Canada. Boxer Albert Liaw went down in the ring four and a half months ago and suffered a brain injury. Today he’s making a recovery playing Wii Sports boxing. Don Simoneau, his occupational therapist, sights the entertainment value of the game keeps patients going long after other types of therapy become monotonous.
“It was very motivating. We could have him do therapy for an hour and he wouldn’t mind one bit. Now when I see him playing today it’s incredible to think back to where he was.”
Although the Glenrose is the only rehab center in Canada currently using the Wii in their program, this could be the start of a new trend.
