Metro: Last Light is just one of many titles not coming to the Wii U, a platform that is struggling to keep up with its console competitors with regards to its ability to render games.
Speaking with NowGamer, Chief technical officer Oles Shishkovtsov said “[The] Wii U has a horrible, slow CPU.”
Shishkovtsov’s colleague, Huw Beynon, confirmed there would not be a Wii U version of Metro: Last Light because the developer couldn’t justify the effort required to bring a version to Nintendo’s platform. Beynon said:
“We had an early look at it, we thought we could probably do it, but in terms of the impact we would make on the overall quality of the game – potentially to its detriment – we just figured it wasn’t worth pursuing at this time. It’s something we might return to. I really couldn’t make any promises, though.”
Beynon may have been more diplomatic about it, but those are nonetheless wounding words. Do you agree with Shishkovtsov?
