UPDATE: U.S. entries only. Sorry we didn’t mention that before, folks. Thanks for all the entries so far!

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: You only get ONE entry. We’re looking at YOU, CHiDvD, who seems to be flipping through dictionaries and thesauruses, randomly slapping the word “balls” together with other words to make potential game titles. Psychotically spamming the comments without even trying to be clever gets you DISQUALIFIED.

Oh, Twitter. How you entertain and distract — like Jan. 4, when many of us delightedly scanned the spines of our DVD collections, trying to come up with hilarious variations of film titles to compete for attention in the hashtag meme, #lessambitiousmovies. My favorites: TRON: Pregnancy and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Dance*.

Of course, whenever we see a funny thing on the ‘Tubes, it immediately gets us thinking about how we can steal it, twist it, and use it to our advantage. Or in this case, your advantage!

Yup, that’s right — we’re doing a contest. For that shiny Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition for Xbox 360 up there (suck it sorry, Playstation 3 owners). All you’ve got to do to win it is drop us your best idea for “Less Ambitious Games.” We’re looking for clever titles that ask a little less of players and developers: Some of our preliminary thoughts were Dying Space, InsultZone and Penultimate Fantasy. You’d better be funnier than that if you expect to win.

Drop your title in the comments here. Make sure it’s a good one — you only get one entry. Get your ideas in by midnight next Tuesday — that’s 11:59 p.m. Jan. 12. Our favorite title wins the prize and gets to join the 20 million-strong Black Ops community, and the rest of you can go tweet about how you were robbed despite being vastly more creative and humorous. Then you can claim the game is overhyped anyway.

*Full disclosure: I came up with the Indiana Jones one, and it continues to crack me up. TRON: Pregnancy was funny guy friend @pauliophonic.
