Editor’s Note: For obvious reasons, we aren’t linking to any of these documents here. While this post is spoiler-free, we can’t guarantee anyone else’s coverage will be.
A bevy of design documents for The Witcher 3 have leaked onto the internet, detailing quests, monsters, and even some of the game’s ending.
The documents were apparently made public on a CD Projekt staffer’s Google Drive account, and not hacked or acquired by other nefarious means. The documents include information about quests, monster design, build summaries, spreadsheets, and more, including some story spoilers, apparently.
Speaking to Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED’s head of marketing, Michal Platkow-Gilewski, said of the leak,
“It has come to our attention that some of the production files for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have emerged on the internet. A portion of the files contains information about the story of the game so we strongly advise against accessing them, as this may heavily impact and spoil your future gaming experience. We also like to reassure everyone that the disclosure of said documents does not affect the development cycle in any way.”
If you’re waiting for The Witcher 3, you’ll want to avoid these documents, as they’ll likely spoil at least part of the game for you, and it doesn’t sound like CDP is planning to make any changes to the game because of the leak. With the recent delay, that means we have to avoid all these spoilers until the game launches on Feb. 24, 2015.
