Bethesda and Machinegames have unveiled the E3 trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order.
The game is an alternate history retelling in which the Nazis beat the Allies to the nuclear bomb, won World War II and subsequently took over the world. Only one man—B.J. Blazkowicz—can stand up against their tyranny and it’s up to him to put an end to the regime once and for all.
The trailer itself contains some backstory on how the Nazis came to take over the world, with scenes of alternate history America—there’s an astronaut giving the Nazi salute as he plants a Swastika flag on the moon, a nurse struggling helplessly against a Nazi on V-Day, and a quad of Nazis walking down Abbey Road in the famous cover of the Beatles album.
Beyond that, we see some short scenes of gameplay footage, marking the trailer as Wolfenstein: The New Order’s gameplay debut.
The game is expected for release later this year on the PC and current-gen console platforms.
