Last year, Blizzard announced that they would donate 50% of the total sales of the World of Warcraft in-game Moonkin Hatchling pet to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Yesterday, they followed through on that promise, dropping a check for $800,000 to the well-known charity.
To celebrate, Blizzard hosted two boys whose wish was to visit thecompany’s offices in Irvine, CA. They got to tour the Blizzard offices , chat with developers, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how games like World of Warcraft are made.
Jon Stettner, CEO and International President of Make-A-Wish professed his thanks in a press release from the organization, saying, “The continued support of Blizzard Entertainment and World of Warcraft players has allowed for hundreds of children around the globe to have their most cherished wishes granted by the Foundation. Thank you on behalf of the Foundation and the children we serve.”
This is another example of a great cause getting a ton of support from gamers. Way to go, folks.
