World of Warcraft doesn’t go on sale too often. Blizzard knows that most of its subscribers will buy and play expansions as soon as they come out, after all. They usually reserve the big sales for times like Black Friday and Christmas. That’s why this half-off sale for World of Warcraft is so unusual. Two weeks smack-dab in the middle of February – February 11th to February 25th – is not exactly the ideal time to put your game on sale. While there is a major patch coming up, I think it’s entirely possible that Blizzard is attempting to shore up its flagging subscriber base by getting more people into the expansions.
What do you think? Is this a ploy by Blizzard to get more people sucked into World of Warcraft, or is it an innocuous tie-in to a major upcoming patch? Let us know in the comments below.
