In your checklist of things to do for the new World of Warcraft 5.2 patch, you’ll want to check out our guide on all the new content. You’ll also want to take a closer look at your addons as they are going to be outdated. In many cases, they won’t be entirely functional (or will throw errors your way). Several addons seem to be compatible so far but there’s a few that you should update to ensure that you don’t run into problems.
Some of the more popular addons have been updated to work with patch 5.2 but it may take some time for the rest to catch up. For now, here’s a list of addons that have been updated. These addons should help provide for most of your needs as you’re out enjoying the patch.
Deadly Boss Mods: Also known as DBM. This mod helps provide colored raid warnings and timers during boss fights.
BigWigs Bossmods: Another alternative boss alert mode. BigWigs helps with alert messages and timer bars for specific bosses.
Big Brother: Great way to check your raid for buffs, flasks, and other consumables. It also has the ability to provide raid alerts when enemies are taunted or if any crowd control breaks.
Grid: Lightweight and modular set of party/raid frames. Considered the standard for most players and healers but there are plenty of alternatives out there.
Vuhdo: Raid frames designed to help display the health of raid members in neatly arranged bars. Mainly for healers.
MikScrollingBattleText: MSBT is a lightweight combat text mod that displays scrolling combat information in a neat and organized fashion.
Dominos: Action bar addon that’s easy to use and setup.
Pitbull 4: Unit Frames addon that allows you to customize your individual unit frames like your player, target, and focus frames.
Shadowed Unit Frames: Another set of simple unit frames.
WIM: Stands for WoW Instant Messenger. Great way to organize and keep track of incoming whispers. It places chats and conversations into their own windows.
Addon Control Panel: This handy addon lets you enable or disable addons while you’re in game. You don’t even have to log out.
What’re some of your essential addons that you can’t play without?
