In early May, Blizzard announced that all proceeds on the latest World of Warcraft companion available in the Pet Store, the Cenarion Hatchling, would be donated to the American Red Cross’s Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief efforts. This support would enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support, and other assistance to victims of the disaster.

100% of the $10 USD purchases were donated to the cause until the end of July, and after tallying the numbers, the little critter raised more than $1.9 Million USD. I’m no accountant, but that sounds to me like over 190,000 of those Cenarion Hatchlings were sold. WoW may be hemorrhaging subscribers, but when you have fifty billion* of them, they’re drops in the ocean.
