It’s appropriate that one of the first games to herald the second coming of the space sim will be X Rebirth.

With the fancy trailer above, publisher Deep Silver reminds us that the X series will make its (hopefully) glorious return on November 15. X Rebirth will officially be the sixth game in German developer EgoSoft’s series, and the first full space adventure in the franchise since 2008′s X3: Terran Conflict.

EgoSoft says the series will remain as deep as ever with its trademark trade, fight, build, and think gameplay, but X Rebirth will also offer a more gradual learning curve to more easily get players into the massive X universe.

X Rebirth is also notable because, as I alluded to in the lead, it will kick off a new wave of space sims coming over the next year, including Chris Roberts’ Star Citizen and David Braben’s Elite: Dangerous. Now all we need is a new Star Wars: X-Wing so I can completely disconnect from my real-world life and commit all my waking hours to spaaaaace!
