Posted on February 19, 2008, Stephany Xbox 360 Controller Biggest Obstacle for 'Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures'
Coming in May to the PC, we have been giving you information on Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures for quite some time, be it nudity, environments, storyline etc. We have also known that eventually it will be coming to the Xbox 360 and at the rate the 360 development process is going don’t expect it until much later because the PC version is priority right now – and for good reason.
According to Funcom Product Manager Jorgen Tharaldsen, the four and a half years of developing Age of Conan on the PC has taken precedence over the 360 version and the interface for the game won’t “necessarily transfer 1:1 onto a control pad, thus requiring a complete interface revamp”. This also means than PC users will not be able to use their 360 controller with the PC version. The game’s combat will incorporate real-time combos along the style of God of War, but since the interface powering Age of Conan was built for the PC the controller is what is holding the game up.
That being said, Tharaldsen is dedicated to bringing the game to the Xbox 360 despite these interface issues. So until they get that sorted out, if Xbox 360 users want to play the game before (possibly) next year, they will have to get it for the PC.
