Posted on April 17, 2008, Chris Xbox 360 Sales “More than Doubled” Since Price Cut, Claims Microsoft
People like things for cheap(er), and it seems that Microsoft’s recent price cut is making a significant impact. According to a press release they issued today, sales of Xbox 360 have “more than doubled” since the recent price cut.
“Xbox 360 is truly the next-generation console of choice among consumers, and today’s numbers are proof that we are delivering on our commitment to achieve critical mass in Europe,” said Microsoft VP Chris Lewis. “The highly competitive ERP [estimated retail price], coupled with entertainment content that’s appealing to everyone in the home, makes Xbox 360 the ultimate high-definition entertainment choice, and it’s clear that we’re already seeing this resonate with consumers.”
The press release also, as per the usual, throws out the market-leading attach rate of 7.0 games per console to the PS3′s 3.8 and Wii’s 3.5. That’s all well and good, but Microsoft still has a long way to go before it really captures the European market away from the competition.
