I’ve finally had the chance to check out the every game currently on Xbox Live Arcade. I decided to compile a top ten list of games on the arcade. You’ll probably disagree some, but this is completely an opinion piece. Nintendo still has the market when it comes to downloading classic games, but XBLA’s library is not too shabby. My top ten list follows the break.

  • Geometry Wars
    • Geometry Wars is simply the most addicting game I have played in years.
  • Castlevania: SOTN
    • One of the best Castlevania games ever made and it’s still a blast to play.
  • Pac-Man C.E.
    • This is basically Pac-Man on acid.
  • Doom
    • I had to include Doom, one of the greatest games of all time.
  • Lumines Live
    • This is an expensive one. Try the demo first, because it’s not for everyone.
  • Catan
    • Catan is a simple strategy board game, but a highly addictive one.
  • Worms
    • I’ve played better versions of Worms, but it’s a must have or XBLA.
  • Alien Hominid HD
    • A Fast paced arcade-style shooter.
  • Uno
    • It’s simple, easy and fun. If you are into gamer points, it’s the easiest one out there.
  • TMNT: 1989 Arcade
    • This game is obviously dated, but it’s a great retro game to re-live the old days of the arcade. At least this time around, it doesn’t take a million quarters to beat the game.
