Posted on December 11, 2014, Stew Shearer Xbox One Beats PS4′s Sales in November
The Xbox One claimed the top spot on the US and UK sales charts in November.
That, at least, is the claim of Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Marketing in a statement released earlier today.
“November set a new record for sales of Xbox One, and Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US and UK,” said Nichols. “Response to the holiday lineup of games on Xbox One was incredible, with Xbox One fans buying more games in November in the U.S. than any other gen eight platform and enjoying over 357 million hours of gameplay globally.”
The high sales of the Xbox One last month are far from surprising. On Black Friday the Xbox One outsold the PS4 by a significant margin, something that likely contributed heavily to its position as November’s top selling console. Regardless of what drove them, the console’s increased sales is undeniably good news for Microsoft which has spent the bulk of 2014 watching it be outsold by Sony’s PS4. What remains to be seen is whether or not the Xbox One can remain the king of console mountain in December without the aid of a giant sales event like Black Friday.
