At the moment, you can’t use your own third-party gaming headset on Microsoft’s Xbox One – not even the ones you used with your Xbox 360.

That will change in “early March.” In a post on the Xbox Wire, Microsoft announced that it will finally release a headset adapter next month.

It’s a proprietary dongle that will sell for… $25. Yowza. I don’t think Microsoft will make many new fans with that price tag.

In related news, if you’re ready to invest in a new stereo headset for the Xbox One in time for Titanfall, Microsoft is releasing one of those as well for $80.

Now that Microsoft has opened the gates, we’ll likely see third-party Xbox One headsets and adapters soon. In the case of the adapter, hopefully with a kinder price tag.
