Update 9/5/14: The free release day delivery offer has ended at Microsoft Store. Added link to the Destiny Limited Edition for the Xbox 360, which is still in stock unlike the Xbox One or PS4 version.

The beauty of the 21st century is that we can now play games on release day without leaving the house – even when its non-digital products we’re talking about. When you need a copy of next week’s big release, Destiny, you won’t have to leave your front door.

The Microsoft Store, in anticipation of the high demand, is offering free guaranteed release day delivery for orders of Destiny on the Xbox One and Xbox 360. It gets better, because pre-ordering at the Microsoft Store also gets you a $10 Xbox Gift Code bonus, which arrives via email and is redeemable on Xbox LIVE.

Below are you best online shopping options for Destiny:

If you’re a PlayStation owner, there’s still an incentive to pre-order before the 9/9 release date. Best Buy is offering you $10 in Rewards Certificates if you’re a “My Best Buy” member (free membership) which is above and beyond the $1.20 you’d normally accumulate in rewards for a purchase like this. Shipping to home is free at Best Buy, but if you need it on the release date you can choose free store pickup at checkout.
  • Best Buy has Desinty for $59.99 with $10 in Rewards.
  • All platforms available (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3)
  • Shipping is free, and store pickup is available if you want the game on release day.

Regardless of where you buy the game, pre-ordering will get you the “Vanguard Armory Set” DLC bonus. Essentially you’ll get early access to 9 special weapons, 3 special helmets, and a “Vanguard player emblem”.

What’s a Vanguard you ask? Good question. Bungie hasn’t confirmed exactly what a Vanguard actually is or isn’t. As a military term, Vanguard is usually a group sent ahead of the main force to seek out an enemies location or hold an area for the main force… so it probably has to do with an elite unit or class of some type.

It should be safe to assume the Vanguard armor and weapons have special stats attributed to them. Note that if you ended up not pre-ordering, you’ll still be able to gain access to the Vanguard armory set via regular methods (unlocking from exp, in-game credit etc.).

Here’s a list of all the weaponry included in the Vanguard armory early access:

  • Peccadillo’s Grace Hand Cannon
  • BTRD-345 Machine Gun
  • Trifecta S.2 Pulse Rifle
  • Harbringer Rocket Launcher
  • Singularity S.3 Scout Rifle
  • SG-Scattercast Shotgun
  • 13098V Incognito Sniper Rifle
  • Carte Blanche S.1 Auto Rifle
  • SK5 Type-Null Fusion Rifle
  • Agema White Titan Helmet
  • Stratus White Hunter Helmet
  • Chroma White Warlock Helmet
