Posted on August 21, 2007, Andrew YMCA to Offer Video Games as Part of Exercise Program

children-exercise.jpgVideo game bikes just might be a great draw for the younger Canadian crowd, and the local YMCA in London is betting it will create a draw. And not a moment too soon, really, with obesity rates being 26 percent for kids from 2 to 17.

The video game systems include the Cybex Trazer, which somehow puts players motions into the games and measures their actions. And hey, it also looks like kids will be able to use the Cateye Game Bikes to hook up their PlayStation 2s while they exercise. I’m not exactly sure how that will work, but there’s no better way to take your mind off of a workout than to plug in to God of War 2.

The program is aimed at kids 8 to 16, and YMCAs here in the U.S. should probably pick up on this, too. Not bad Canada, not bad.
