Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure didn’t seem like the worst idea ever. Toys + video games + super cutesyness. Perfect for kids. Nothing to hate on. It’s also been the recipient of wide praise for the game itself and for the surprisingly not-gimicky toys that work along with it. So it makes sense that Activision would want to continue with the (spin-off) series. And they are, with Skylanders Spyro’s Universe, an MMO version that will allow players to customize the world, continue to use the toys from Adventure, and other goodies.
The beta is open now, and you can sign up on the official site. In the meantime, here’s the trailer.
