EA and DICE have announced that they will be making it easy for Battlefield 4 players to upgrade from current- to next-gen consoles if they purchase both versions of the game. The current-gen version of the game is coming out on October 29, with the next-gen editions to follow after the release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
Whether you’re playing the game on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you’ll be able to carry over your Battlefield 4 stats when you upgrade from the Xbox 360 to Xbox One or from the PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4. The company previously revealed that it was looking into the matter.
Likewise, Battlefield 4 will see the return of Premium membership, so players will be able to expect digital expansion packs, weekly content, and personalization options. These too will carry over from current- to next-gen systems.
According to DICE, both next-gen versions of the game will feature “best-in-class multiplayer” with 64 player battles running at 60 frames-per-second, so there’s ample reason to want to upgrade if and when you pick up a next-gen system.
Further details about the game will be unveiled at EA’s 2013 gamescom press conference on Aug. 20, with a first look at Battlefield 4 Premium content. DICE also plans to reveal an all new multiplayer mode and map during the event.
