Here is a modification that will replace the Leviathan within GTA: San Andreas, with that of a CH-47 Chinook. Please note that ImgTool is required for this modification to function and to be installed. Also it is highly recommended that you backup any files that you will overwrite.

*Fixed Collision meshing, its now a lot more precise with the model
*Fixed Found the ID of the packer mesh. The interior of the Chinook now has the same surface data
you will notice Vast improvements with vehicle carrying :)

General Information

Time to create:  1-2 weeks
Colour Schemes: SFOR Camo, SpecOps Camo, British Army Camo, Desert Camo, Arctic Camo, Blue, Green, Sand, Coal, White


Installing the Model (leviathn.dff & leviathn.txd)
1) Download Img Tool v2.0 from;44920
2) Backup your gta3.img. You will find it in your San Andreas\models directory.
3) Open IMG 2.0 and click Open. Browse to your GTA San Andreas Directory, select gta3.img in your \models folder. Click Open Scroll down to find leviathn.dff or use the find feature rename leviathn.dff to leviathn_orig.dff by selecting the file and clicking rename from the toolbar. Add my modified leviathn.dff. If you want it to replace another helicopter, simply rename leviathn.dff & .txd to the file you wish to replace.
4) Rename leviathn.txd to leviathn_orig.txd and import my leviathn.txd file.

Installing the Handling 
1) Open handling.cfg which is in your San Andreas\ data folder with notepad, find the line that begins ‘LEVIATHN' and replace it with this:

2) Scroll down and find the line that begins '$ LEVIATHN', replace with the following:
$ LEVIATHN 0.7 0.85 -0.0003 0.005 0.02 0.0007 1.0 0.0007 1.0 0.5 0.001 0.2 1.0 0.1 0.9985 0.992 0.992 0.995 2.0 2.0 10.0

Changing the Leviathan's name

1) Download GTA SA GXT Editor from
2) Open the Editor.
3) Put this into the file name bar: 
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\text\american.gxt
4) Select Edit then find, type in $386A3F8A
5) Replace "Leviathan" with "Ch-47 Chinook"
6) Save the file

Installing the Colour schemes
1) Open carcals.dat file, which is located in the SA/ data folder using a text editor.
2) Scroll down until you see "launch"
3) Create a line after launch and insert it with the following:
leviathn, 112,12, 37,46, 14,26, 41,102, 25,72

If you have GTA Garage Mod Manager GGMM

Installation is easy and very straight forward, download from here:

1) Make sure you have at least version 1.5 of GGMM
2) Extract the file "Chinook.ggm" to your desktop
3) Double-Click the file
4) Installation complete!

The rotor on the back will sometimes randomly disappear...I cant do anything about it unfortunately, Its how the game is.
Carrying Vehicles is possible, but its not the best in the world, again its due to the game.
