For along time people have wanted to play multi player in Grand Theft Auto. Ever since playing Grand Theft Auto III for five moments, one of the thaughts in my head would be "Dude, it would just rock to have a melee style shoot out with half the world on here." I never thaught it would happen any time soon, but thats to this mod, the days of wait are over...
Mult Theft Auto allows you to play Grand Theft Auto over the internet with your friends and enemies! You can select from two game modes, stunt and deathmatch. Stunt is about who performs the best stunts and Deathmatch, well, we all know what that means. More chaos and most kills.
This version of MTA is a must have for anyone wanting to try Multiplayer Grand Theft Auto, and this version is ALOT more stable then before. Of course, things are not 100% perfect but with a fast server most player's find gameplay to be fairly good. One issue i have myself is my guns not effecting other players, but i tend to get this most when i am running the server (You can download the server utility for MTA from this site)
Want to play Multiplayer GTA VC or III? Why are you waiting? Download it!
1. Introduction to Multi Theft Auto: Vice City MTA:VC, Multi Theft Auto for Vice City, is a modification for GTA: Vice City to allow multiplayer gaming in the VC world over the internet and LAN. The developers of MTA:VC are spending a lot of time in this software, together with the approval of Rockstar North. This is the second release supporting GTA: Vice City and is still very much a beta rather than a ‘complete’ package so please bear this in mind when playing. Bugs can be reported using the bug form which can be found on the website, www.mtavc.com. We have worked hard to include many improvements and changes to the first public beta release, which was MTA:VC 0.1, please refer to the list at the end of this document if you want to know more information about the included features of this package. For more information about Multi Theft Auto and joining the largest GTA-Multiplayer-based community, please see our website: www.mtavc.com. 2. The installation The MTA:VC 0.3 package contains everything you need to play MTA:VC and eventually to even run a MTA:VC Server using Windows®. Of course there is also a Linux/Unix version of the MTA:VC Server available, which can be downloaded on our site (w.mtavc.com). To install MTA:VC 0.3, you need to run the installation program and point it to your GTA: Vice City directory. The installation program will extract all the files which are needed to run MTA:VC 0.2 to your GTA: Vice City directory. No original GTA:Vice City game files will be altered or replaced by the installation program. WARNING: MTA:VC, will NOT function alongside any other GTA:VC modifications. This includes custom made cars, textures, altered MTA files and such. Please use a clean GTA:VC installation in combination with MTA to play. 3. Quick start guide After installation, simply run the MTAClient.exe file. Enter a nickname you would like to use in the Nick textbox, as well as the server IP address (in Host) and the port (in Port). A password is only required if you are joining a private server and are aware of its current password, otherwise leave this blank. Server details can be obtained using The All-Seeing Eye, which can be found at www.udpsoft.com/eye2 , or from the IRC channel #mta-servers on our public MTA IRC server: irc.multitheftauto.com. Once connected, the 'Start Game' button will be available. Clicking this will run GTA: Vice City. Once the introduction movies have finished select the ‘Start Multitheftauto’ option from the game menu and you will be presented with a choice of six careers to play with, Note the starting weapons of each and select the one most suited to your playing style by pressing Enter. 3.1 Normal MTA Mode server: Once connected the 'Start Game' button will be available, clicking this will run Vice City. Once the introduction movies have finished select 'Start MultiTheftAuto' From the game menu and you will be presented with a choice of six 'careers', Note the starting weapons of each and select the one most suited to your playing style by pressing Enter. (Please allow the career menu to load fully before selecting. Hitting enter too soon may crash your game) 3.2 Stunt Server. In this mode you will again be presented with six choices, now called Pastimes, Four motorcycles based, two cars based. Unlike normal MTA there are no weapons, all players have armour and instead of kills the object is to make money (and generally have fun). Money is earnt by performing stunts, the more impressive the stunt the more cash you will be awarded. In this first version the money is not displayed on the scoreboard, this will be addressed in future versions of the stunt server. Other differences consist of ramps scattered throughout the city, extra health pick-ups and a bonus 'pick-up' at each spawn. I'll let you discover for yourselves what this particular one does.
