File Description

Offshore offers a multi-level side story of Gordon Freeman while en-route to City 17 via Highway 17 in the infamous buggy.

When Gordon's buggy was taken by the Combine Dropship, some maps of combine outposts hidden in one of the buggy's side compartments were lost. Gordon was immediately dispatched by Dr. Kleiner and Dr. Eli Vance to locate the buggy and return the missing maps.

Setting: The entire modification is set at night on a small, rocky island off the coast of City 17. Rugged terrain, abandon structures, and multiple combine outposts will make escaping this island hell more than just a walk in the park.

His plan: Gordon surrenders to the combine so he could be transported to the facility where the buggy was left for scrap. Upon his surrender, he found himself in a small prison facility on the rocky island, waiting for a visit from Dr. Wallace Breen who would read his sentence personally. A familiar face woke him from his deep sedation...

His mission: Twist, turn, and shoot your way through 9 chapters (29 levels) and locate the buggy and find a way to return to City 17 with the stolen maps.

Note: Requires Half-Life 2: Episode 2 to play.

1. Unzip the zip file into <STEAM>steamappsSourceMods (a folder called Offshore
   should be added)

2. Restart Steam. Offshore will show up in your game list.

Some Specifics:

This is a fast paced and highly intense single-player modification for Half-Life2: EP2.

Game Mode	- Half-Life2: Episode 2 Single Player Total Conversion
Game Style	- Lost Coast style in terms of an add-on mission
Game Time	- Estimated 7-10 hours (first time through) depending on your skill
                  level and difficulty setting
Chapters - There are 9 chapters with a total of 29 playable levels. Each chapter
should take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete.
Difficulty	- A bit more challenging than the original game series, but definitely
playable. Many of the maps ar much less 'linear' and require you to
locate an exit in a non-traditional fashion.

The multitudes that provides testing feedback

Q: When I start the game, then hit quit, I get an error. Why?
A: Don't know, but this happens with HL2: Ep2 OOTB as well. It will not affect the
   gameplay in any way.

Q: The map islandunderground3 crashes. Is there a workaround?
A: This is a problem several have noted and I have been unable to overcome. Often
times, simply restarting the game and playing from your last save point will
allow you to pass through the level error free. If you are unable to, you can use
the chapters menu to go to the next chapter, or:

   > Hit ~ to bring up t6he console
   > Type: sv_cheats 1
   > Type: map islandunderground4
   > Type: impulse 101

This will allow you to move to the next level.

Q: I'm stuck. What do I do?
A: There is a walkthrough posted on the webpage.

Q: Why do I always have to wade through leech infested water to get to the next part
   of the map.
A: You don't. The game does not ever subject Gordan Freeman to such torture.

You can use anything and everything in these maps for your own use. In fact, I'll
even sent you all of the .vmf files if you ask.
