Due to network issues this is version 2.0 of this week's update. Bungie has a large update this week. They included lots of graphs, Halo 3 multiplayer testing, a mini waaahmbulance, and in interview with Marty O'Donnell. Halo 2 is still going strong after 2 years. There are still over 20 million games of Halo 2 played each month on Xbox live. The record was in August of 2005 with over 35 million games played. Here is what Frankie had to say about the fact that Halo 2 is still going strong.
That's a testament to our game, of which we are very fond. It's also a testament to the skill, patience and dedication of our gamers who've put up with cheating, network out time, matchmaking play list shenanigans and more. To you, we give our thanks. Thanks for supporting us and thanks for sticking with or game.
They also commented on the great success of the new game types. Team SWAT and team slayer make up the majority of the games played on Xbox live. Lockout remains a huge favorite, consisting of almost %50 of all games played. The team working on Halo 3 has been converting the vehicles from Halo 2 into Halo 3. Here is what Bungie has to say about it.
Jaime has been working on tuning the vehicles from Halo 2, for their reappearance in Halo 3. The new engine, new graphics and so on require of course that our "old" vehicles be rebuilt from the ground up to take advantage of all the extra horsepower we have. New vehicles, were there any in Halo 3, would have been created from scratch and need less re-imagining. Jaime also promises some new game play related features for vehicles that you might not expect.
Multiplayer testing is moving along. They are not telling much aside from the fact that there is a new weapon, that Frankie likes. This is good news. They do have something that is playable with months left until completion. This means that the game can only get better. They also included a small waaahmbulance and an update with the HD version of the Halo 3 trailer., our sister site, did an interview with Marty O'Donnell. He talks about why he chose the piano for the Halo 3 trailer and other things. The interview can be viewed here The complete weekly update can be read here[?url].
