Well well. It seems that battle scarred stuff is coming into skinning fashion a the moment. Jackle brings us a battle scarred skin for the sniper rifle, with some ideas from doompig. This skin only modifies the sniper rifle and I must say does a darn good job. I intend to keep this skin as my sniper. It's detailed, looks good and the static on the display is a nice touch. Makes up for Halo 1 style sniper's lacking compared to the Halo 2 one. Overall a good skin, but don't take my word for it, check out the screenies and download it to give it a try yourself.
You might not have guessed I created this, but I did. I do take full credit for this. It was my idea and I created it. But without doompig and his Assault Rifle + the original version of this skin, which he created, I might not have created this. Static was his idea, by the way. As you could guess from the "Battle Scared Assault Rifle", this is going to be that; a scratchec up brokec down assault rifle. It's exactly that. But I used special scratch brushes I used to create my banshee. There's static on one part, and part of the glass is shattered. Again, on to the instrcutions! *You may need to extract the file before continuing* Skills, Applications, Items and Utilities you will need before starting: -A Brain -Basic Skin Knowledge -HMT -My Skin -The ability to read on *If you are incapable of this, don't continue.* This is made up of two bitmaps, so there'll be two different instructions. First things, first; open HMT and using that, open up a map file. Delve in drive C:, and Find Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\MAPS and just open up any mapfile there besides bitmaps.map and sounds.map. Any map works because the skin will apply to all the maps and single player missions. Sniper Rifle: Open the "Bitmaps [bmp]" tab. Scrol down until find "weapons\sniper rifle\bitmaps\sniper rifle". It should be near the bottom of the list. Find and click on the "Inject Skin" button. Find where you extracted my files, and go into the "Skins" folder. Find "sniper rifle1.dds.1" and double click/open that. It should have injected. Moving on. Sniper Rifle Decal: Open the "Bitmaps [bmp]" tab. Scrol down until find "weapons\sniper rifle\bitmaps\sr decal". It should be near the bottom of the list. Find and click on the "Inject Skin" button. Find where you extracted my files, and go into the "Skins" folder. Find "sr decal1.dds.1" and double click/open that. It should have injected. Now done! When you open up halo it should be ready to go. If none of the skins were there, you obviously did something wrong. If they were not there, consider revising what you did or trying again. If that does not work, try reinstalling Halo. If this does not work, it could be issues with your computer. I know that it works with Plug-ins like Bitterbanana's Yelo Battery; but if it's not working, try taking out any plug-ins or mods you previously installed. If issues continue, it's not my problem, and please don't annoy me for help; because I cannot help you. Note, I take no responsibilities for your stupidity or any issues that occur, so don't flame me if you once working copy of Halo is now not working; because it was not likely to do with my skin, and your stupidity is your own stupidity. Also, I would like to know what everyone thinks about the new readme, and if it was more helpful. All question can be directed to me via eMail or Xfire. My eMail is firstname.lastname@example.org. My Xfire username is jackle123. Enjoy, Jackle
