A water purification station out in the galaxy 'kektik'. Yes that’s right, kektik. My galaxy. You may only enter this galaxy by paying homage to Lord Nanarchy. Or by playing in one of the mysterious ships & bases found around it.

The water kinda defies the law of gravity on this map ;) In the lower sections you can find water pools on the walls (yup that's what I said, on the walls :P). They have pickups in them so it'll be useful to go in there. There are many paths and rooms in this map which is great for an FFA match, though the map can be played in CTF and Duel as well.

Title: KEKTIK: THE AQUATICS
Atmosphere: A water purification station out in the galaxy 'kektik'. Yes that’s right, kektik. My galaxy. You may only enter this galaxy by paying homage to Lord Nanarchy. Or by playing in one of the mysterious ships & bases found around it.
Game Play Modes: FFA, TFFA, CTY, CTF, Holocron, Jedi Master, Gun Duel
Supports: 4 - 8
Intended for: 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 matches
Recommended Specs: Geforce 2 Titanium 64meg, or above.

To Note:

This was my first map for the Quake 3 engine. I learnt a lot about it and the new things it brought to editing. Unfortunately this map was somewhat of an experiment as much as it was a project. It plays well, compiles fine, although it could have been much better. I ended up redoing the textures a couple of days before it was ready for release. This was due to overdraw. I caulked the whole thing and started from scratch.

The frames aren't the best, though they run well enough for me to release it. I run a 1.2 AMD, 512 Ram and a GeForce2 MX 32mb. If it runs well enough on mine, others should have no problems. With this game having come out 3 years after Quake 3, I think it is justifiable anyway.

Some areas are a little weird. Examples are the massive light structures on the top. If you jump behind them, you can see through them. I caulked all faces not visible during normal fighting, but visible whilst falling off. You are going to die anyway so this secret information will serve you no good. Behind one of these lights is part of the water area from one of the rooms. It's a bit dodgy seeing it there, as beta testers liked to camped their, you now die if you step foot on it. Sorry but dem's the rules. Items were removed from the top of the platform on the roof in order to create a spot for duelers to match without others interfering trying to get an item.

Two CTF/Y Platforms appear in team games. Just ignore them. There is no option to turn things off for Team FFA and not CTF, so I had to settle with just not having them there for Free For All. The map wasn’t build for CTF, although I feel it plays reasonably well with a small crowd. Probably best for CTY so it’s not a speed running fest.


What’s next?
Two CTF maps will be next. Not sure of the release date, so far Aquatics has taken priority over work, which is bad. Just stay tuned to my website for more information/beta testing.
