File Description

Well, what can I say about Occupation 2? While I haven't played many SP mods, this is certainly the most elaborate one I've seen. Everyone who was a part of this project put forth a lot of time and effort for this mod. There are several cut scenes and while the people who did the voice acting are not professionals, they did their best, and considering the final product, I am impressed.

Some of the buildings are really interesting to explore and the story moves along quickly. Unfortunately, I didn't really get much farther than, like, the third street. After going through a few waves of stormtroopers, I seemed to have exhausted the army. No one else tried to kill me. So I wandered and tried to open doors or break things, but to no avail. I finally gave up after leaving and coming back to the game three times. Maybe I was just overlooking one very small detail that would've opened everything up for me. Or maybe I was impatient. In any case, this mod looks better than any other SP mod I've ever played. The details are fantastic and the new textures are perfect.

So, do this: download this mod, play it, then email me a walkthrough. LOL In spite of getting frustrated that I couldn't get any farther in the game, I did have fun playing it. :) More than anything, I'm just amazed at the amount of work that must have gone into this mod. Very well done. And I'll have even more praise if I ever get through the darn thing. LOL

Note: This is version 2 of Occupation. The original release had serious flaws including Kyle being invisible! I did test the mod a great deal, the reason these errors were present in the release version was that there were files on my computer which made things work fine, but these files were only to be found on my computer, when they were removed the problems were there for me like anyone else who played the map. I only realised this after Occupation was released, I have been working on fixing the problems non-stop since then. I would like to offer my sincerest appologies for anyone who downloaded the original release version of Occupation, I release it was a fairly epic download time for modem users. Please overwrite the original occupation with this version, which features a fully visable Kyle and full texturing.

Map description: Following on from Prison_Escape, Kyle is sent to infiltrate Galtech's HQ to discover more about their link with the Remnant. Kyle's investigation will lead him to a distant planet on the Outer Rim with an archaic culture and powerful overlords. This map features numerous cutscenes, over 10MB of voice acting, altered NPC characteristics, a custom skin for Kyle, custom textures, 4 difficulty settings, and various non-essential things to discover, including the identity of the traitor among the townspeople.

Other info:
The best settings for the sound will vary depending on the sound system, but generally I highly recommend setting voice volume to full. I like to have effects volume at around 1/3 and music as no more than 1/4 or it can drown the voices out a little. It's worth jamming the speaker's volume well up when playing this map as well.

If you have subtitles set as on before playing the map then you will see the credits appear as the introduction plays.

Talking to some townspeople with your lightsaber drawn can frighten them and cause them to speak incoherently, avoid having your lightsaber active when talking to a townsperson where possible.

Try to talk to all the friendly people you meet, they may be able to provide important information and help. Be careful however as you are vulnerable to attack when talking, it is not wise to walk into a building and start talking to someone with enemies all over the street outside; it is often a good policy to clear the streets of enemies before you enter a building to talk to someone.

* How to use this map *

This map is loaded as a mod, with a custom menu screen. Unzip the file to C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData, not GameData\Base. Start Jedi Knight 2 and then go to mods, load the Occupation mod. This will re-load JK2 with the mod active, you will see an altered menu screen. To start a new game go to New Game, select a difficulty setting, and the level will load.

NOTE: The Mod affects the SP game when it is loaded. It shouldn't affect the SP game when not loaded up, so you shouldn't need to delete it to get JK2 single player to play normally again. I do not recomend playing any saved games from the single player game with the mod loaded as it is likely to cause problems and crashes, just exit Jedi Knight 2 then start it again and the mod will no longer be active and the game should play normally again.
