File Description

I have to say, I quite enjoyed this little duel map despite its obvious lack of *wow* in the eye-candy section, because it played extremely well. It totally feels like a default Raven duel map when you explore it, and for gameplay, the layout is extremely well-designed, taking into account the variation in height needed for jumping and including areas large enough to duel in. Having said that, the two themes combined in the map do clash somewhat; Korriban statues in a technologically-oriented scenario?

The lighting was also pleasing - the general style broken is up with glows and hints of red to keep it from looking monotonous, whilst the texture-work was up to scratch and provided a base for the light sourcing. A door locked sound was included to let the player know when a door will not open, which was nice. I do think however, that the textures do clash a little, due to the mismatch of the themes, but for some reason I just got the impression that it worked. The single main flaw in this map is the lack of bot support, which is a real shame because aside from that, the map is a gem.

Death Lair has a more traditional layout and is an excellent map for Duel, Powerduel, or a TFFA. There is an optional upper level and corridors to help enhance a feeling of "Cat & Mouse" as you search for your adversary.
