File Description

Ok well this map is ... original. Basically its a nice, semi-small island and it's actually very cool. The palm trees look very good and the fact that theres animals around the place is a very nice touch. There's crocdiles, spiders (shudder), different tropical birds and even a shark about to eat a fish. This map has been pulled off really well but I would have liked to see some grass in the central area rather than just sand everywhere. At some points the water can be seen through the island but it's not that big a deal to be totally honest. What is a big deal is the issue of FPD. My FPS went WAY down, at points I had 5 FPS. Now I don't have the best computer but my FPS is usually a lot higher than that on big maps! I think it's because of all the effects in such a small area that causes this. Oh well its still a pretty well done map, so fix the FPS and this could be a huge hit.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Unpack archive and place .pk3 file into /Base folder.

DESCRIPTION: Summer Holiday! :P My inspiration came partialy from 'Cast Away' movie and partialy from err... a place of my dreams :P Map takes place on the one of many islands scattered across Pacific Ocean. However, there are significant marks that there were people, but they dissapeared somehow. Maybe local critters frightened them? (sharks, crocodiles, spiders...) Or maybe their salvation had come? The map is designed to play duels and power duels, but you can also play free for all mode eventualy, which is not recommended (no weapons, low fps). I've tried to create local 'pacific' climax, y'know: shining sun, humming waves, warm water, palm trees, singing birds and so on. Enjoy!!! :)

BUGS: The most important thing: the map may require monster comp., due to many palm trees. Avoid many players (only 8 at one time is max! If more, try to reduce graphical settings - mainly screen resolution, texture quality to at least 'High' and filtering set to 'Bilinear'; use over-clocking etc. :P). I used 'caulk' texture whenever possible...

DEVELOPING TIME: A month? Maybe longer...

PROGRAMS USED: Usual mapping stuff (EasyGen 1.42, GTK Radiant 1.4.0, JKA SDK) + GIMP 1.2.5 + Audacity 1.2.3 (for 'waves' sounds). 

COMMENTS: Well, map was tested in the clean /Base folder and no errors occured.

TIP: Try to touch all (4) border walls - you can't see them, obviously, because they're invisible; just go as far as you can to north, west, east and south.
