IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to make backups of any mods you may have before using this utility.
This handy utility will manage the mods you have in your base folder, as well as allow you to automatically load Jedi Academy with either JA+ or ForceMod 3 if you so desire. The way it works is that it will detect any PK3s you currently have in your base folder, and you will be able to add new PK3s from a secondary directory on your hard drive or you can remove PK3 files from your base folder for easy installation/uninstallation.
My biggest complaint is that when the author claims that mods are 'uninstalled' he really means it -- they are instantly removed from your hard drive as far as I can tell. It seems to me like it would be more practical to have the program set up to read two locations -- the base folder and a mod storage folder -- and just move PK3s between the two so the user doesn't have to worry about backing up the PK3 files every time they want to intall/uninstall an individual mod.
Besides this, this seems like a very useful utility with a lot of potential. Make sure to leave you suggestions to improve it so the author can make newer and better versions!
*********************************** Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy *********************************** TITLE: JAMM - Jedi Academy Mod Manager v0.4 AUTHOR: JimiF E-MAIL: [email protected] FILENAME: JAMM v0.4.exe FILESIZE: 56 kb DATE RELEASED: 22 September 2008 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Copy the file to your GameData directory and run it. I'm currently developing an installer so this is no longer required, just click and it'll be installed. DESCRIPTION: JAMM is a Mod Manager for Jedi Academy, showing all currently installed mods in the \base folder (except japlus_gla_anims.pk3) and allows you to execute Jedi Academy with either ForceMod III, Jedi Academy Plus or No Game Mod activated automatically (saving you having to go to Setup>Mods after loading the game). It also has a .pk3 installer/uninstaller which is simple and easy to use, making it really easy for those of us who don't know how to install a .pk3 or those of us who just can't be bothered to load the \base folder. Simply click the file you want to install/uninstall in the appropriate list and click the appropriate button. The program is still being developed (hence only v0.4) and I open to suggestion about features you would like to see in it. Email me any suggestions and I'll see what I can do. BUGS: No bugs have been found, however, if you do find a bug, please email me details of exactly what you were trying to do at the time of the bug occurring. COMMENTS: Special thanks to Frazer Whatley, Simon Hawley and Daniel Regan for testing.
