Well Lord of the Rings fans, we have a treat in store for you today! Whilst I am not really a fan of LOTR and my knowledge about it is sketchy, I do remember the Argonath, those two colossal statues from the Fellowship of the Ring. Lord of the Rings is full of impressive buildings and constructions, but out of all of them this is my personal favourite, followed closely by Minas Tirith.

Because of the unusual structure of this particular location, I always imagined it would be a tough one to make into a map, but I must say YaMax has done an excellent job here. Only one of the statues is actually physically there, because they are so huge that it would be difficult to make the map big enough to fit both in the map with the proper scale. The other statue is part of the skybox, and has been very well blended in.

The statue itself is huge. You spawn right on the top, along the arm or on the head. Because of its unusual nature, this map is really best for a small FFA, as there isn’t an awful amount or room at the top. Also because of its unusual shape, you cannot get directly from the arm, to the top of the hand or head by jumping or climbing, instead a few small ‘jump boards’ have been placed in the necessary areas. All you need to do is walk onto the jump boards and you will be catapulted up to your destination.

How do you get down again without a parachute? Well, all you need to do is jump…you won’t die, so there is nothing to worry about! The map has been made with what I presume is a special shader which prevents the player from suffering damage after the fall.

The map contains some nice Lord of the Rings music, which fits brilliantly with the map and I must give the author a big pat on the back, because he has done an excellent job of recreating the face and helmet of the Argonath.

As for improvements, I would suggest to work on the lighting a bit, as it is a little flat at the moment. Also I think the textures probably need stretching a bit, as from a distance they repeat quite a lot. The other thing that I noticed was that the jump board that is supposed to take you onto the top of the hand actually tends to overshoot you, and send you flying off the end to your death! :P

All in all though, a very unique map here, and one that I definitely think is worth a download because of that. Keep up the good work YaMax, I look forward to seeing more from you, and I also hope you make a v2 of this excellent map! :)

Duels / Power Duels / FFA

This is the famous scene in Lord of the Rings " the fellowship of the ring "
Argonath or Pillars of the kings, specialy made for duels, Power Duels and ffa 
or juste for relax and observe the landscape and listening a peaceful music..

As the Great River Anduin flowed southwards into the region of the Emyn Muil, 
the land rose up on both sides of the river, leaving a narrow passage between two lines of cliffs. 
Eventually, this river-passage opened out into the wide lake of Nen Hithoel. In ancient days, 
this was considered to mark the entrance into the kingdom of Gondor, 
and the Kings of that realm raised two great monuments to mark the north-gate of their Kingdom. 
Two huge statues were carved on either side of the river, 
together known as the Argonath, or Pillars of the Kings. 
These represented Isildur and Anárion, the sons of Elendil, who had been Gondor's earliest rulers.

Extract the contents of the .zip (argonath.pk3) into your Jedi Academy/GameData/Base directory

This is my first map for JKJA, The best game ever !!! >:D
I've used 3DsMax for creat the statue and exported it with milkshape
the sky had been rendered with Vue6,
anyway i'm just beginning to use all those softwares so I still have a lot to learn.
It's a simple map but I hope that you will apreciate the mood and have a bit of fun on it.
