It's always refreshing when someone sends in a nice saber hilt. It's even more refreshing when people send in more than one. This pack consists of four sabers.
The sabers are aesthetically pleasing, for the most part. And they're simple, meaning none of those annoying spikes. Just a little embellishment here and there, I like the crystals on one of them. I like the basic design in all of them. But the models aside, this could use some work, as the author tried to modify these.
He tried to limit these to having only two styles available. But I could use all of them in MP. And they were supposed to have higher damages. I couldn't detect any. So, improve on the basic effects editing. He also said something about the special sabers only available through the console, and I couldn't get to them. So I guess that the ones that are reviewed are the ones with the unedited properties. Meh. If you like this, download it.
*********************************** Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy *********************************** TITLE: Max Sabers 1 to 4 AUTHOR: Klasal K's E-MAIL: email@example.com FILENAME: max_sabers_124.pk3 FILESIZE: 1.65 MB DATE RELEASED: 14 May 2006 CREDITS: - Peter (sounds + thanks for photoshop 6 - it's worth every cent); - Virtue (lightsaber crafting tutorial - http://www.thejediacademy.net/%7Evirtue/tutorials/hilts/saber_tutorial.html); - revandark (great hilts); - turbosquid (gmax); - chris cookson (gmax md3 importer plugin); - pop_n_fresh (gmax md3 exporter plugin); - mental vortex production (md3view) - all those who made the gimp; - Peter Engström (PakScape); - lucasarts, raven and activision (jk3); - filefront (brings the file to you); - all those i forgot to mention INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: copy the .pk3 to GameData/base of your JA-installation - start a new sp- or mp-game - select one of my sabers - play; "splisten" and "evenbocht" can be spawned as special-sabers ingame via the console - this is how they are originally intended; DESCRIPTION: splisten and evenbocht are supposed to very old sabers made and used by a longforgotten master of the force, not jedi nor sith, who is said to have travelled far beyond the known universe... ... both sabers are able to produce two blades that melt into one with double the power - however, it makes the saber harder to handle and easier to loose; due to their age and heavy usage they have somehow stored parts of their user's skills - therefor they are reduced to two styles each; max tries to find a way to get where the mentioned forcemaster went and is joined by two friends who later turn against him (or them 'cause max is actually two people); these two friends have sabers: omlijsten and knobb ... omlijsten is a small and handy saber, quick and a bit shorter than others; knobb is a singlehanded saber originally intended to be used as dualsabers (there where two of it but one got lost); due to its size it can only produce a fairly short blade; BUGS: - custom saberon-sounds don't play when the sabers are first spawned; - special splisten and evenbocht cause trouble on sp-levelchange ... COMMENTS: splisten and evenbocht have been published ("max_saber12") but with the two blades they where limited to two fixed styles and did not really work for multiplayer - so i made singleblade-versions for the menu; alltogether the skins and sounds are 90% done - maybe i'll get to finish them someday but for now they have to do as they are; THIS MODIFICATION IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY ACTIVISION, RAVEN, OR LUCASARTS ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LLC.
