File Description

This reskin of Jimesu Evil's samurai model is supposed to be Mitsurugi from the Soul Calibur series (I assume the SCIII version?). It's accurate, and yet it's very inaccurate. Despite the fact that this model is probably the closest we're going to get, it really just doesn't cut it for this particular character. It doesn't have the right body shape, nor is the armor quite right.

Let's look at what is accurate. All the decals on the armor seem to be fitting, though many of them are mirrored to Mitsurugi's right side since cutting out the armor there would likely have looked a bit silly, if not totally awful. The skin seems to improvise where the model differs from the concept. Certain details that are really only on Mitsurugi's shoulder plates (forgive my lack of samurai jargon) have been translated to the plating on his legs. One part of the model has been changed into the belt through the use of alpha shaders.

There are weak spots, though. The face, for instance. Not only is there a bit black spot along one of the seams, but the face really just doesn't seem to fit. The beard/stubble is too dark in most areas, and the entire face is too narrow. Some of this has to do with the model, but the facial features on the texture could also be widened to make up for some of the model's shortcomings. His eyebrows also have something weird going on that make him look kind of Vulcany, rather than like a bit, bad, mean samurai dude.

Overall, though, if you're a Soul Calibur fan you'll probably want to pick this up. It's probably the best Mitsurugi you're going to get unless someone deems him worthy of his own model.

Description: This is my attempt at creating Mitsurugi from Soul Calibur using the samurai model. I think it turned out pretty good despite some of the model's drawbacks. There are a lot of parts on this model that have not been welded together so you can see between some of parts and I had a few issues with uvmapping that makes texturing a little tough but overall the experience was good. I still think it's worth taking a look at. You be the judge.

Credit: I have included the Readme file to the original samurai v2 model as requested by the JKfiles administrator. I have also utilized some of the original artwork from Soul Calibur 3 to complete the skin and use as a reference. Below are the names of the original Samurai v2 artists as stated in the readme file.

***Trouble shoot***

Usually there are only a few errors make that cause problems. Here are the most common...
1) Not using the proper console commands for "Single Player" or "Multiplayer"... cheats are acivated differently for each. Read "Instructions" up above.
2) Having the pk3 placed in the wrong folder.
3) Make sure you have the latest Jedi Knight Academy update, this is very important!
4) sometimes the model will not show up in the select menu, The Game loads them in reversed alphabetical order, so Yoda should show up in the top. If not you may just have too many models. You can rename the pk.3 to Z_something, and this will put it at the top.
