Sharad Hett is back with a new default replacement, but he has informed me that there is likely to be a second version of this on a different model, because he is not entirely satisfied with this one. I would have to agree. It's technically what you could call a good skin, but something bugs me about the model itself. It never seemed lovable, even though it was well done for the time at which it was made. I like this skin better than the model upon which it was based, but then again, model choice still has a say in my opinions. Good model choice couldn't have gotten any better than Sharad Hett's first default replacement, and this doesn't live up to that.
However, it's still good. Sharad Hett is consistently good at making stylish, attractive, fashionable (?) clothing for his Jedi. I saw this good sense of style with one of his very first skins submitted to this website (under a different name); AmosMagee agreed. He's also persistent in his intent to make faces that look far more detailed and realistic than the default blobs. The default Jedi Trainer replacement has almost as much facial expression as his last replacement did, but I'm not sure I entirely love the face. It seems a little pasty, as if in his past he got splattered with a strong base turning parts of it into soap, but so did the original model's face.
All of my dislike is geared toward the original model. It's good for its time, but now we look back and see it as inadequate. This is a good skin, and I'm keeping it because the normal Jedi Trainer is very strange and un–Jedi-like, but most of us will want to wait for version two.
