File Description

I'm going to tell it to you straight. There was nothing in this map which I could find to praise. Absolutely nothing. With the slight exception that the secret entrance to the 'Mapper's Room' was a nice idea. I could list all the errors in this map, but frankly, that would be boring for me, and tedious for you, so I'm just going to point out the main ones.

Misaligned, missing, oversized, and misplaced textures. No shadows or atmospheric lighting whatsoever. Architecture - blocky to the extreme. A misunderstanding of how to create water, unclipped stairs, models not aligned to the floor properly, gaps between brushes, teleporters without destinations...

Okay I'll stop, thats way more that enough for the author to be dealing with at the moment, especially considering this is his first map. But I just stress again, maps of this quality shouldn't really be submitted, you aren't going to get a good review simply because you're new to the whole experience. The texture work is something the author is going to have to figure out for himself. The levelshot must be dimensions of the power of 2, and have the same name as your .bsp file. Water must only have the water texture on the top and bottom - caulk_water on all the other sides. To give doors sounds, apply the key :soundset, and value: impdoor1 (or similar) Use lights, and don't use ambient lighting. Don't mix grasssy floors with snowy walls. That alone should improve your map no end. Then you'll need to work on improving your skill with radiant - building more detailed structures, start to use patch meshes e.t.c.

As you may have guessed, there's also no bot routes, background music nor ambient sounds. I don't mean to sound overly-critical here, but this map isn't an example for anybody else to follow. And next time, if you include the Jedi Council GCX textures that were missing from this pk3, make sure you include the readme for that file, as per our submission policy.

Please tell me anything you'd like for any upcoming versions please.

Website URL: None at the moment; go fig

Music by: None, I tried to give the map an on-the-edge-of-ur-seat feel, until u get homed
by a Rocket Launcher :)

Map Description: A dueling zone used by the jedi academy. It is mainly for the training of
weapons and guns, along with many force powers. The Jedi Order had no intention of making
this training area at home, so they decided to make it very simple, kind of un Jedi looking.
There are many spots for people to train in any kind of environment.

==================================================

NOTE: This is SY's FIRST MAP. Please don't be too critical of my textures, I didn't know
how to make textures too well yet, so I tried to keep everything simple. Some textures are
bright while some are dark. This just adds to the eerie feel of the map, a kind of uneasy
feeling.

==================================================

To me this map was more of a project then I intended. This map took me 2 months along with
the help of many of my friends. I've found that the 2 secret areas I included are kinds of
havens to admins and nervous warriors alike. I find the best room to duel is up the stairs
in the open area, where there is nothing to defend you, and you must be sharp. I had originally
planned on making this map dedicated to the -=*BBA*=- clan, but instead I'm giving just
a bit of credit to them. They helped a lot during this, but I don't like the idea of plastering
BBA all over the map and making people uneasy.

If anyone wants something new, or a clan would like a plaque in here or something, it may
come up in v2 or even v3 :)
==================================================

File size (.pk3) : 219 KB
Yes it's very small, but i've included my .map file just for those of you who'd like to tool
around with this versitile map and make a clan map of your own. No need to ask me if you'd
like to do so, just have fun with it (that's one reason why I made this map of small size)

Date Released: Thursday January 12th, 2006

==================================================

Recognition: All in all, only a few people were a part of this map. I'd like to thank, in
general, the -=*BBA*=- clan. It is all of them who gave me the drive to make this project
work. I'd also like to thank a great mapper, in my opinion, Llama. You were great man.
Thanks.

In the BBA clan I'd like to thank Griffin, the guy who's been there with me through good, bad
and halfway-through-hell. I'd like to thank Assassin, a great mate to have with me no matter
what happened. I'd like to thank Glaed who was a friend and still is to this very day. He
helped me with a few short tests and we were great pals. Finally, I'd like to thank Exile.
An amazing mapper and an even greater friend. Thanks to all of you, this map came out right.

In a final note, I'd like to thank the now-dispersed (JAWA) clan. You guys were there when I
needed support. You helped me and now to everyone who still plays JKA, I thank you very much.

==================================================

SHIPS AND SPECIAL ICONS: None (except BBA logo, which was roughly designed by me, SY. Yah
I know it sucks).

New Textures: NO (some of these I kind of cross did between textures from Jedi Council GCX,
but then I took images offline and kind of overlapped, just so I didn't directly take them
from GriffinClaw.)
