Coming into the recent movie mix is the fifth installment of the KungLao series, also known as Chapter 5 =_=.
Suffice to say, this installment is quite strange, and from what I've researched, almost completely different from the previous movies in terms of setting. Honestly, even with the information I looked up, the movie was still slightly dry in terms of story.
The first scene starts out with KungLao escaping with Amelia Black, a girl who assisted him in the previous movie. There's about 1:10 worth of silence between the two. The scene involving the two getting to the village should have either been cut a little more or the camera should have followed the two characters. Then comes the dialog
The voice actors were great, although the main character's voice actor sounded a bit dim, borderline lacking the emotion that all the rest had. I'm not quite sure what was going on for the shadowed figure's accent in the movie, but honestly, I rolled with it.
Coreography was pretty good. You'll notice immediately that none of the characters have moving mouths, but for the most part, they made decent use of the emotes, although I suppose they could have moved around slightly more during conversation. However, that's excusable.
The dryest part, as forementioned, was the story itself. The story felt ambiguous, vague, with only a few little threads keeping it together. It's probably best to watch the previous movies, as it may increase your movie experience tenfold. I honestly went in unprepared, and I'm guessing I paid the price. Regardless, the ending scene definitely threw me off. A random ninja attacks and gets halved, KungLao changes into another set of armor in about 2 seconds and exits the house he was in. The scene then fades out. I certainly intend to check the previous movies to see if there was any relevant connection..
Overall, it was an alright 4:28 film, but I would probably suggest watching the previous 4 movies. Also, there isn't any music, which probably hurt the mood. However, I still suggest a bandwidth submission =_O.
