Growing up as a child Samus was my favorite video game character. In fact I was convinced that the coolest thing in the world would be to be Samus Aran. Of course since my childhood was late NES // early SNES I am far more fond of the old school Samus, in the clunky suit, with the really big gun. However this Samus isn't really so bad either. I just don't like thinking of her as a ditzy-looking blonde.
Anyway I'm not here to diss the concept, since that's not what the author created. I'm here to diss the skin! Er, review the skin. There's not much to diss in any case, luckily for the author! Not that I would... :D
So this model uses the excellent Gwethenea model to create the metroid-blastin' girl herself, but in her more feminine duds as seen in Super Smash Bros: Brawl. Alas, my Super Smash Bros experiences ended with the original. I decided to quit after I was beaten by a five year old... which is a shame, because I loved that game. I always played as Samus, go figure... But screenshots do not lie, and according to them this skin is about as accurate as you can get.
The skin includes two types of shaders in one. It firstly has a nice specular shader, giving a bit of shine to her body. It secondly has a glow shader for her back. Custom sounds are also included, as is a nice looking custom icon. So what are the beefs, you ask? As seen in the author's own screenshot there's a clear spot on the leg where the texture is a bit misaligned (you can see purple where it shouldn't be). Also the model isn't perfect for a Zero Suit Samus. But I'll be the first to admit that it's probably about as close as you can get, so it should more than suffice.

Title : Zero Suit Samus Author : Tyrael64 E-Mail : firstname.lastname@example.org File Names : zzzzzzzzzzzzz_ZeroSuitSamus.pk3 File Size : 3.46MB Date Released : February 4, 2007 Credits to : Hapslash, Nintendo Description : This is a reskin of Hapslash's fantastic Gwethenea model to resemble Zero Suit Samus from the upcoming video game, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. This model was an interesting learning experience for me as a skinner, as it taught me how to actually create textures from scratch, instead of photosourcing and warping everything. Also taught me a lot about shaders, and how to combine the two. Note that her torso has both a shiney AND a glowy shader! Cool! Anyway, this one is for all you Nintendo fans out there (myself included) who can't freakin' WAIT for Brawl to come out. Until it does, you'll have to satisfy yourselves with this. Note: Her taunt is intentionally silent. Samus is a strong, silent gal who doesn't exactly taunt or goad her opponents. She just walks up and lets her blaster do the talking. Cheers!
