Let's hear any suggestions you might have, people. Edit: Yes, there's some grammatical inconsistency in the poll. Unfortunately, OPS threw a fit when I tried to edit the options so it'll have to stay.

None, this site has the most dedicated staff on the entire filefront network. On other sites staff just do some sloppy work on reviews but these are both informative and coherent, without getting boring. You can actually see that you guys put a lot of work into it and kudo's for that:rock:

#3 - Posted by: Revan_Malak (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 00:33

I voted "Don't change them they're fine as it is." because they aren't short, you give opinions, make things clearer...the list goes on and on.Thanks to you guys a game from 2003 still gets modded by a lot of people, and just for the record: KotOR I and KotOR II->:rock::rock:

#4 - Posted by: yumemi13 (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 04:09

I would change the reviews a bit - made them shorter and more brief. And when author of review gives his opinion it sholud be at the end. In example perfect review for me should look like that: 'This mod is done by... It changes this and that and so on ;) I think that author made a big effort... I like this mod because...'

#5 - Posted by: Revan_Malak (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 04:22

#4 you should go to BFII files! There people make reviews like you said: "I'm too busy to make a review so read the readme!"

#6 - i voted lil improvements by mistake !!!!! - Posted by: Anjin16 (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 05:15

damn! i accidently voted that ! when i said dont change then ! sigh! i visit kotor doom battlefront jedi knight filefront evryday . and kotor filefront has best reviews. dont chnaged them at all thats all u guys get from me . cheers im having a beer (althought im 15 yrs old):beer::beer:

#7 - Posted by: jediheman (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 05:54

the reviews are fine as they are. some of the are long, but it just provides that much more information.

#8 - Posted by: Revan91 (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 06:04

I like them. Nice, planned out, and very detailed.

#9 - Other - Posted by: Penguin_Unit (Staff) on 08-08-2008 at 06:40

The reviews are in need of a LOT of improvements. The job of a staffer is to analyze the file as well as saying what it's "supposed" to do. All I see normally is the latter around these parts. So I picked other.

#10 - Great Job! - Posted by: Laar_Dha (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 08:29

I think the reviews are excellent as they are. I have yet to download a file based upon the review and be disappointed. The reviews are informative, accurate, and thoughtful. Kudos.

#11 - Posted by: Revan_Malak (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 08:46

#9 the reviews are awesome here!I can't say the same for other sites! And as I see there are 106 people who think that your 1 vote is...!

#12 - @9 - Posted by: LordJediMaster (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 09:33

I expected that from you. Penguin Unit probably thinks this site is ran completely wrong here and thinks it should be like his site Battlefront Files where he does hardly any work and it's poorly ran where as Shem works hard on this site and it is always growing with lots of mods always coming in.

#13 - @12 - Posted by: Darth_Oblivion (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 09:44

Don't change anything. The reviews are exactly saying what it does and what it changes. It's helpful and sorta interesting to read. "I am Darth Oblivion.....Dark Lord of the Sith....and Lord of Death."

#14 - Posted by: Eagleracer38x (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 10:03

I like the reviews as is for the most part. Shem always has great reviews. Thanks for the great reviews on my mods btw. :) I see a review every once in a while that seems kinda "lazy" and not really too helpful, but I wouldn't change formatting or anything.

#15 - Seriously.... - Posted by: Darth_Cow (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 10:12

they're great the way they are. period.

#16 - Posted by: Loco_Modder (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 11:38

Don't change anything, the reviews are great!

#17 - To be honest... - Posted by: PrincessJaden (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 11:39

My one gripe has gotta be that a few of the reviews sound kind of negative. Occasional "I wouldn't have done it this ways" and "not for me, but some might like its" thrown in there, make you NOT want to even give some mods a try. I think everything else in the reviews are great, most are very informative. Shem's reviews usually have a nice bit of background in them, too. But I'd like to see you guys be a bit more objective, is all. (makes me a bit scared to post mods of my own here. :p ) All-in-all, though, you guys do GREAT work here!

#18 - srry for double post but i'm wondering - Posted by: Darth_Oblivion (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 13:10

hey do you get a job here on the filefront networks? just wondering

#19 - Posted by: Emperor_Devon (Staff) on 08-08-2008 at 16:28

hey do you get a job here on the filefront networks? just wondering

Well, you've got to kill a man for starters. It's kind of like the Mafia. After the initiation rite you're in too deep to ever back out.

#20 - I suggest ... - Posted by: FrantFire (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 16:59

They are fine but I'd like some mods reviews to be a little more specific, i.e. I posted a mod two months ago which included important changes to Vogga's dialog if you kill some specific NPCs for example, among other things, and the review only mentioned that 2 new areas were opened and little more ... Maybe some mods need a couple of additional lines in the review to describe a little more precisely what it does, that's all I'd like to see ... besides this, I like how they are. I know its difficult for big mods but ... maybe it can be improved. hope it helps! ;)

#21 - Posted by: DarthHK (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 17:33

Nothing comes to mind. Shemmeh, JC, Devon, and the others do great work here. Which is more than I can say for a lot of other sites on this network. The reviews are sometimes a little lengthy, but it shows that they are human and have emotion. Some other sites I see could easily be run by a bot.

#22 - Posted by: Kewl101 (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 18:43

Well, you've got to kill a man for starters. It's kind of like the Maifya. After the initiation rite you're in too deep to ever back out.

Well, in that case, I should just pick up a pistol right now and...*aims*

Naw, I'm just kidding. The reviews are great. Don't change them at all.

#23 - Posted by: jonathan7 (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 18:48

I voted other - because 'fine as they are' doesn't reflect fully reflect how good your reviews are or the effort you guys put into reviewing mods, I for one am thankful for your hard work and reviews, and do read them all :) Keep it up! GB J7

#24 - @20 - Posted by: Darth_Oblivion (Member) on 08-08-2008 at 22:03

really sweet give me five seconds *pulls out blaster and shoots Carth* there am i in now?

#25 - Good reviews - Posted by: Joris1 (Member) on 08-09-2008 at 07:48

Hi everyone, I read this discussion with great interest. I don't know anything about argues between the staff and to be honest, I would be glad if I've heared - better read nothing - about it hear in the public area. Okay, my opinion towards the reviews is, that they are n the majority of cases really great and I really like read them. Especially in Shems reviews. And: I'm coming from another culture area - germany - and haven't the best english. But the reviews are very articulate. And as far as I know from other Kotor-fanf from germany, they appreaciate the work of this site aswell. So this is another great goal for the staff if they can manage it to let foreigners understand the site well. I also think that the reviews are very fair to everyone becuase there are few who get told that there mod isn' t good. And courtesy is one thing that makes website successful. The point Penguin_Unit brought - with the good ratings - is comprehensible to me but I think that diplomacy is more important in that case just to be sure that the mod newcomers who don't make mods in low quality because of cursedness but because to let other people have more fun at Kotor and I see no point in discouraging them with bad ratings although if the mods have low quality or they are bad. So, who cares? The ones who want to download it, do it, others don't. Nobody is forced to download a mod so bad rantings are just destructive. I hope I could make my opinion clear. And I would be glad if there won't be such discussions again - you know what I mean with it, do you. ;) Best regards Joris p.s. Go one with the great job. :D

#26 - Posted by: To3_J4m (Member) on 08-09-2008 at 19:14

seriously guys, no matter what the polls say, dont change how u do the reviews, u guys to a great job.

#27 - Posted by: DownloaderBizz (Member) on 08-10-2008 at 03:13

............i forgot what i was gonna write............... arguments elsewhere please, all this really ruined the poll

#28 - Posted by: GiygasUnlimited (Member) on 08-10-2008 at 08:32

I'd say the staff is doing a fine job. I'd rather have nicely worded reviews than people who hold grudges against this site. Penguin_Unit, when people say something is bad here, it gets severely bashed. Just look at;67686, that author actually made something which took effort and was good. Because he was bashed he didn't return for about two years.

#29 - Posted by: DarklordXana (Member) on 08-10-2008 at 08:46

i think the review are run fine the way they are

#30 - Posted by: Lady_Revan (Member) on 08-10-2008 at 16:35

I love the reviews on this site. To be honest I only feel 'safe' downloading and installing a mod after reading through the honest reviews. That may because I'm a console gamer who is a n00b when it comes to PC gaming mods. I'll just add keep it informative about what is changed and how stable a new mod may be. Constructive criticism is important not just so the modder can grow as a modder, but for the non-modders to get a good idea how usable each mod will be for us n00bs lol. Thanks for your hard work guys!

#31 - @55 - Posted by: Darth_Oblivion (Member) on 08-10-2008 at 17:34

really? whoops it wasn't there when i was writing mine so if it seemed like i copied bad i didn't see it

#32 - Posted by: LoganZezima (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 09:18

The reviews here are great, Shem is the best reviewer.

#33 - Posted by: To3_J4m (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 10:01

@64 lets not get into an argument over who is the best reviewer, let us just all agree that they do an amazing job.

#34 - Posted by: SykoRevan (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 12:42

The reviews on here are good, they let people know what the mod is about, and sometimes the guys here take the time out of their day to help out a bit extra, like one time when I submitted a Chiss skin mod for Carth, I didn't have a screenshot for Dustil, who I also edited, and Devon took a pic of Dustil himself and added it with the screenshots I did take. On some of the other FileFronts (especially JKFiles), if there isn't a screenshot sent with the files, there isn't a screenshot period. So the staff here on KotORFiles does seem to care about the mods and the work done more than some other places. And if, as Penguin_Unit says, that makes me some staff god-worshiping fanboy, then I'm converting to Shemiology!... Or is that Shemianity?

#35 - Posted by: Loco_Modder (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 13:39

@66 Lol, Shemiology. How about Devonism? :p

#36 - @ 64 - Posted by: Darth_Oblivion (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 14:37

I didn't kill a guy.......i killed Carth. There's a difference between the males here in real life and those like Carth

#37 - Posted by: Malpense (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 14:49

I like the comments generally. Sometimes they can be a little hard on new modders, but in a lot of cases that's a good thing. *Sigh* Perhaps one day I'll try my hand at modding...

#38 - @ #64 & #68 - Posted by: LoganZezima (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 16:05

@ To3 J4m Agreed. @ Darth Oblivion Apparently you didn't get the joke... It was a quote from Anchorman...

#39 - Posted by: thor8808 (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 18:22

Also, the next poll should be "Which religion do you follow?" Shemology Devonism InSitianity Jayceeism XD

#40 - Posted by: Loco_Modder (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 18:30

That's a riot! :p

#41 - Posted by: SW (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 19:19

It is very impressive that people keep uploading new and original mods to this site for a game that is five years old! It is a tribute to the dedication of the staff that so many mods are uploaded each week, the PoTDs actually come in daily, and 600 people vote in a weekly poll. As for some reviews being harsh, I find them constructive. When an improvement was suggested for one of my mods, I did it. A bit of the reviewers opinion is helpful (would they be reviewers otherwise?), and appreciated, though. Keep it up - despite the fact that those who are happy are in the minority. Oh, wait a minute...

#42 - good reviwes - Posted by: darthrevan2895 (Member) on 08-11-2008 at 21:10

I thtink the reviews here are really good:cool: If it's lengthy that just means it goes into depth:D you guys rock:rock:

#43 - Posted by: Loco_Modder (Member) on 08-13-2008 at 04:21

Oops, looks like some of the comments have been removed! Nevermind that last post. :o

#44 - Let's stay on-topic - Posted by: Emperor_Devon (Staff) on 08-13-2008 at 04:40

Okay, I just pruned about half the comments for this poll and edited nearly as many. Penguin Unit's management of BFFiles isn't relevant to the mod reviews here, nor is whatever grudge (perceived or otherwise) he has against the staff. In response to one of the deleted comments, this site isn't a democracy. It's a dictatorship shared between the staff, albeit a benevolent one (or so I'd like to think). And while we value the input our members provide (as indicated by this poll), that doesn't mean we allow totally free speech. We don't (as also indicated by this poll). For the record, no one who had their comments deleted or edited should consider themselves warned. Except for a certain internet political idealist, but I think he knows who he is. If anyone has any issues with the deleted and edited comments, they may be taken up with the staff via e-mail. Let's not derail this poll any further. Now let's return all discussion to the mod reviews.

#45 - Posted by: Emperor_Devon (Staff) on 08-13-2008 at 04:48

Also, the next poll should be "Which religion do you follow?"

It may very well be! :p Danke for the idea.

#46 - Posted by: Loco_Modder (Member) on 08-13-2008 at 07:31

For the record, no one who had their comments deleted or edited should consider themselves warned. Except for a certain internet political idealist, but I think he knows who he is.

It's not me, is it? Haha, I think that the "staff religion" poll would be a blast! :D

#47 - Posted by: SykoRevan (Member) on 08-13-2008 at 08:07

Also, the next poll should be "Which religion do you follow?"

I claim original copyright for the idea :D I was the one who first mentioned it with "Shemiology," after all :P

#48 - Posted by: thor8808 (Member) on 08-13-2008 at 09:07

And someone else came up with Devonism. I made Jayceeism and InSitianity. It was a group effor :P
