We’re now at four mods with four new strait Knights of the Old Republic authors. Fresh authors are always a good thing in my opinion. They can help breath in new life into the modding community as our site grows. 90SK is making his KOTOR FileFront debut by releasing a massive mod for Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
The author likes to refer to this mod as an armor fix mod. However, there is much more to it than just armor fixing. The biggest and most exciting feature in my opinion with this mod is the new audio files. The author did some voice acting to add to a new merchant you can find on Onderon to sell some “rare” items as described by the voice files when I listen to them. It’s been a big project in the making and took a lot of time for the author to make which means it’s going to be a lot of fun to have as an add on to your TSL playing experience. The fact that it’s over 30 megabytes should tell you there is a lot of new stuff in it.
A lot of armors that are already in the game got new textures put on them or had been pointed to another texture file already in the game. The author also got a lot of help from very experienced modders from Holowan Labs that really have put a boost into it. New items have been added to enhance your game play. Some of the other things you’ll see is when leaving Onderon when Mandalore says no more trips, two bounty hunters confront you. There’s a new droid merchant on Nar Shaddaa, Azkul and Zherron are wearing new sets of armor on Dantooine, Ludo Kressh’s corpse has a new surprise in his tomb on Korriban.
There are some really specific instructions and tips on installation included in the readme that everybody needs to check out about installing the mod. Not all files go into the override folder, especially since there are new audio files. This mod will be a blast to play with. Enjoy! :D
Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future.
March 22, 2007: When you're done installing, make sure you take out the "kavar.dlg" file. It's not needed and has caused issues with other people.
====================================================== KotOR II: TSL MODIFICATION ====================================================== AUTHOR: 90SK EMAIL: email@example.com NAME: K2 Armor Fix + CREDITS: tk102 (for scripts) Stoffe (for scripts) Gsccc (for tips on VO recording) Nequam (for inspiration) Darth333 (for scripts) everyone else at holowan (for scripts, experience, etc.) FILENAME: K2Armor.zip FILE SIZE: about 32mb DATE RELEASED: 3-10-07 --------------------------- DESCRIPTION: I've fixed most of the continuity issues with TSL and KotOR's armor supply. Originally unique armors have been given appropriate back-stories that clarify why they are no longer attributed to the individual from the previous game. Textures originally belonging to certain armors have been returned, and repeated textures used for multiple armors have been switched around. If I deemed a reinstated texture boring, or unpleasant, I modified it accordingly. I've replaced some unique armors with generic armors so the unique ones won't be replicated in game (like Exar Kun's Armor). The unique ones have been moved. I modified the alpha channels of the armored flight suits and modified their placement in the game. They'll show up more now. I have also added several new armors, mostly of the heavy variety, which can be located at various points in the game. There are four new "encounters" a player can experience, including two new merchants, some unscrupulous characters on Onderon, and a luckless hunter on Telos and Dxun. There are a couple of new or otherwise unused items now available to the player. I've also tweaked the appearances of the masks in the game to be more diverse. And I made a new icon to replace the completely hideous one Obsidian had for the Nihilus mask. In addition to all that, the Icons for armor classes F, G, and H are "TSL style" (with arms), while all armor classes below those are "KotOR style" (without arms). TESTING INFO: To test this mod, the following conditions must be fufilled to access certain features. If they've already been met, they need to be met again after installation: Onderon: Cutscene between Vaklu and Tobin when first entering 502 (spawns merchant near Ponlar) Enter the cantina (spawns the two additional patrons - note that firing the Kavar cutscene in the cantina will remove those patrons) Mandalore's cutscene in 501 "No more trips to Iziz until the situation changes..." (spawns the bounty hunters in the hangar) Nar Shaddaa: Quello cutscene at beginning (spawns droid merchant off of Tienn's shop) Cutscene between Hanharr and Vogga when first entering docks (spawns secure container in Vogga's treasure room) Telos: mercs beating up on Sullustian outside of cantina cutscene (spawns hunter in the next hallway) Dxun: seeing the Zakegg through the force cutscene (spawns hunter's corpse) Dantooine: Azkul is now wearing a new set of armor Zherron is now wearing a new set of armor Korriban: There's some new stuff in Ludo's sarcophagus INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Open up the SWKotOR2 folder and drag the "Override" and "StreamVoice" folders into it. This should merge the contents of my folders with your existing ones. If Windows prompts you to override any specific files (like PMBH01.tga, for instance), it means you have a compatibility issue that requires closer inspection. If you have a general knowledge of KotOR modding, most of the features of this mod are pretty modular, so you can remove whatever you don't want without too much trouble. However, for the sake of simplicity, I would warn against that. COMMENTS: This mod has been my pet project since TSL came out. I never really had a specific goal in mind for it, which is why there are a lot of different things here. I didn't design it with compatibility in mind; however, barring dlg or utc file conflicts I don't think there'll be any problems. Regarding TSLRP compatibility: I'm pretty sure it won't work with it. I'll release an update once the TSLRP gets finished, maybe with some new content or something. We'll see. Also, this was my first venture into the world of scripting. I did most of it over the summer; I'm not sure whom to credit for what because a lot of what I did either got botched, blended, or modified beyond recognition. So if I missed anyone when giving credit, I'm sorry. And lastly, thanks to the people at the TSLRP boards for input on the TSL icons. BUGS: Female Versions - there are female versions for all the armors in this mod...but a lot of them look terrible, in my opinion. Sorry. Pauses between dialog - for some reason, the characters with custom VO's have these long pauses after each line. It pretty much ruins the flow of the dialog, but that's nothing a click of the mouse can't solve, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. It's actually only really a problem for the Onderon merchant. Just click once after each line he says. Icons – some of them are blurrier than others, when looking at them in the inventory menu. Spelling errors – I’m sure I missed some. Other- I didn't do a whole lot of testing for this, so there may be bugs I don't know about. PM me at LucasForums if you find any not listed here, and I'll arrange for an update, or just send you a fix. The same goes for compatibility issues. PERMISSIONS: If you'd like to use something in this mod in your own mod, I'd like to be contacted first, or at least given proper credit for my work. USE OF THIS FILE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND THE ABOVE MENTIONED COMPANIES OR THE AUTHOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO YOUR COMPUTER FOR THE USAGE OF THIS FILE.
