*There are spoilers in this review*
There are actually some Knights of the Old Republic players out there that still have no clue who Dustil Onasi is. I posted a YouTube video about the Dustil side quest and it was amazing how many people have never seen that before. If you don’t know who Dustil is, hopefully the last name caught your attention because he is connected to Carth Onasi. That’s right, he’s Carth’s son. You can find him on Korriban if you trigger Jordo, who is a friend of Carth’s that you can meet if you can get Carth to talk about his son. If you do all that, you will learn that Dustil is at the Korriban Sith Academy learning the ways of the Force by using the dark side.
With that in mind, Princess Artemis and Jiara are back with another update to their recruitment mod. This gives you Dustil Onasi has a party member and you can get him on Telos for the game Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. It’s fitting isn’t it? If you remember Carth’s history, you learn that Telos is his home planet. As mentioned earlier about Dustil, if Revan is a true servant of the light, he/she will show him evidence that Master Uthar and the Sith are evil, he will leave the Sith Academy and inform Carth that he will return to Telos. If Revan is on the dark side, he/she will destroy Dustil. That is key because there is a condition with using this mod. You have to set Revan on the light side when talking to Atton for the first time to get Dustil. Consistency is very important and the author realizes this. People seem to get confused about all this who needs to be on the light and dark side. Just remember in this is one of those cases it doesn’t matter what the Exile is. It matters what Revan was in the first game.
Since a party member has to be chosen when creating a new party member to choose, HK-47 has been chosen to be replaced by the author. It’s easy to choose the Assassin Droid in this one because he isn’t a necessary party member to complete the game; meaning he’s optional. Those who are very familiar with modding know what I’m talking about. This 1.5 version of the mod helps eliminate Dustil from speaking HK-47 lines at various points of the game. It also has better language support for those who have versions of Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords that aren’t he English language versions.
The TSL Patcher will install this mod. Make sure you go over the readme file because it contains information that you will need to know. There’s a fix in this mod for some users who get a particular bug, so make sure you read about that in case you have had it in the past or get it later. Enjoy the update! :D
Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future.
Readme for NPC Recruitable Dustil: Created by Princess Artemis and Jiara. v1.5 -- fixes a few dialogues where Dustil spoke HK's lines and should make it so the dialogue will display in all language versions of TSL. This is just the basics. Run TSLPatcher.exe and read the file. It's not a good idea to ignore it; I know it's long, but it has much more useful information than this basic readme covers. If you absolutely must, after running TSLPatcher, ignore the fuller readme and browse through your folders until you find the folder SWKotOR2. The path will usually be Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2. Dustil will only show up if you tell Atton that Revan was Light Sided. There are other restrictions on the mod, but that's the major one; the rest you can discover on your own. Dustil permanently replaces HK-47 and has extensive dialogue, cut scenes on the Ebon Hawk, reactions to different characters, and some other surprises. He's a powerful character who, if you do recruit him, has a story that runs through to the endgame of TSL. Potential compatibility issues: This mod has a new lightsaber and color crystal. That might conflict with other mods. It *will* conflict with mods that use the Ebon Hawk cut scene scripts. It will conflict with other mods that replace HK-47. It will conflict with ChAiNz.2da's Kreia's Assorted Robes Collection v1.1, but there's a workaround for it. It fixes two bugs--one bug fix is independently available from www.team-gizka.org, the other I have permission from Razorfish to use the script from one of Team Gizka's fixes so it is not incompatible with it. Really, do read the whole file that tells you about the mod when you run TSLPatcher. It explains why there is a folder called Emergency De-Atton with this mod. Ignore the included folder Source--it just contains the source for all the scripts used in this mod and is only of interest as a reference for modders.
