Darth Shan brings us an update to his Story Mod for SW:KotOR II: TSL. This mod adds a lot of content after you defeat Darth Nihilus, including a few visions, and a whole load of new dialogue. :D
Darth Shan felt that the last version was a little 'messy', and so here is the cleaned-up version. In it, we get enhancements on the previous version - the largest probably being the complete overhaul of the first vision, and the 'clean-up' of the second.
Other features included in previous versions are not having to recruit the Disciple if you don't have the Handmaiden, some adjustment to the cutscenes of the Handmaiden's sisters, the ability to sacrifice Visas for nearly any excuse ( :p ) and the HK-Remote-G0-T0 conversation on Malachor V. :)
The author does warn us of one or two bugs with the mod, however.
First of all, attempting to use the Party Selection screen on Malachor V with this mod will make your game crash to the desktop. However, Darth Shan has been unable to find the cause, and suspects it is something coded into the game's .exe file, and advises you to ignore this option if it comes up, and continue with the game.
Since you can't use any of your party on Malachor anyway, (aside from the Remote ;) ) there wouldn't be much point in trying to use the party selection screen in any case. ;)
Second, Darth Shan has not been able to fix the issue with Carth showing up instead of Admiral Cede around 50% of the time for Dark Side run-throughs.
Third, the author has encountered some issues of difficulty balance on Malachor.
Neither of these last two should cause crashes or other problems, however.
Darth Shan has also decided not to use the TSLPatcher, but has ensured compatibility with the following mods:
- The Ultimate Sabre Mod (USM) - Coruscant Jedi Temple - Azgath N'Dul's Tomb - The Dark Apprentice - Droid Factory Reconstructed - Droid Planet Mod.
Please note: For reasons of compatibility, if you are to use any of the above mods, with the exception of the Droid Planet Mod, they should be installed before this one. The Droid Planet Mod, however, must be installed after this one for compatilbility.
NB: Please leave the author some feedback - especially if you download and use this mod. It does help to encourage authors to make more mods in future.
====================================================== A KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II: (THE SITH LORDS) MODIFICATION ====================================================== TSL Story Mod v2.7 BETA AUTHOR: Darth Shan EMAIL: firstname.lastname@example.org NAME: TSL Story Mod v2.7 FILENAME: tsl_storymod.rar FILE SIZE: 3.5 MB DATE RELEASED: 01/01/2008 CREDITS: Loganessex for testing and advice. JackLucas for testing and no advice. Shem for prolonged help with modding, Stoffe for investigating the Malachor issues. Malpense and Archer for encouraging feedback. DISCLAIMER Let's face it: The last version (2.5) was a mess. What do you do, when you discover that you did it wrong? You start from scratch. I went through all files and tried to clean them up thoroughly. I did not add new stuff. I proposed to add things for every single planet. I won't. This project has become more modest. I wanted to turn it into a Bastila-Shan-TSL-mod, but I will refrain from it. I want this stuff to be playable and then become compatible with the TSL restoration project, and that's it. BUG WARNING: This mod implements a new level on Malachor. If you go to the party selection menu, your game will crash. I can't solve this issue. Stoffe was kindly helping me with this, but I could not figure it out. It seems that TSL clears up all irrelevant stuff and scripts when you go to Malachor. Thus, you can't add custom levels to Malachor without crashing the game when going to the party selection menu. I looked at every single script during the last months, but could not find anything related to this. I suspect it is hard-coded in the TSL-exe file. YOU CAN'T SELECT ANY PARTY MEMBERS ON MALACHOR ANYWAY, JUST IGNORE THE OPTION. DESCRIPTION: This mod, the third version of my first mod whatsoever, contains the following stuff: 1) Nihilus is the Exile - FINAL. You get some additional dialogue options, if you installed USM you will still be able to get the lightsaber - and the mask as well. It revolves about a problem of the PC's identity. New in Version 2: Every line of dialogue is now properly voiced, the text has a little less clichés. Read the original readme for further details. 2) Sacrifice Visas in (nearly) all situations: If you equip Visas with modified lightsabers and custom robes, you will still be able to sacrifice her. (Beware: You won't get the additional options from the Nihilus Mod, in this case.) 3) Shoot-out between Remote, Goto and HK-47 on Malachor V. 4) Vision in the council chamber on Coruscant, v.3 (updated). This is a small modulet with dialogue options for three Sith lords, completely overhauled. 5) Small dialogue tweaks for the Handmaiden Sisters Cutscenes. Compatibility script for Stoffe's Handmaiden Fix and deathdisco's New Planet Coruscant (one script file to be found in the Backup folder, use it only if you use BOTH mentioned mods). 6) Option for never ever having to Recruit the Disciple if you do not have the Handmaiden. This leaves some room for recruitment mods. USM compatible. 7) Second Sith vision on Malachor, v0.9 (updated). Dialogues cleaned. Rebalanced. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Read this Readme, really. Extract archive to a test folder on your harddrive. Drop every file manually in the archive folder "SWKotor2" where it belongs in the respective game directory folders: modules lips Override streammusic. All these correspond to LucasArts>SWKotor2>modules - lips - override - streammusic. THIS WILL OVERWRITE lips>904MAL_loc.mod If you use an English or German version of the game it's alright. There are original file backups in the archive. If you have any other TSL version, drag and drop this file from "lips" to a separate backup folder. Alternatively, you may drag and drop the whole "SWKotOR2"-folder onto your LucasArts folder (NOT the game directoy itself!), if you have a standard TSL installation. Read the rest of this readme. COMPATIBILITIES USM (Ultimate Lightsaber mod) Coruscant Jedi Temple (my mod overwrites loadscreens.2da, perfectly alright) Tomb of Azgath on Korriban The Dark Apprentice (MacLeod Corporation) Droid Factory Reconstructed Droid Planet Mod This mod won't be compatible with TSLRP, because they are going to implement several ways to sacrifice Visas. Install this mod prior to my Droid Planet mod. HOW TO PLAY The modifications begin very late in the game. - Defeat Darth Nihilus to get the additional dialogue options. Shortly afterwards you will be transferred to the new module. IMPORTANT: The first dialogue has been purposefully flagged as unskippable to avoid skipping the deletion script (i.e. this is the nasty looping bug from the last version). I implemented the line "I won't have this vision" to let the vision disappear. This is intended for the case anything still goes wrong. If you use this option rightout you won't ever be transferred to the council vision area. - The confrontation between the droids automatically takes place when Remote has activated the Mass Shadow Generator. - You will automatically enter a new level before moving onwards to the Trayus Core. If you do not like this: open the console and type "warp 908MAL", this is the Trayus Core. Don't use the party selection menu (the game will crash). BUGS and ISSUES: 1) When you select the party menu while staying in the new Malachor level, your game will crash CTD. Probably there is nothing to be done here. Note: This is not the case with the council chamber level. 2) There is a bug with the Disciple dialogue in Khoonda: Carth may show up instead of Admiral Cede in case of evil PC (50% prob.). This was introduced by the USM when fixing a looping cutscene bug. This is a little inconvenient, but the original bug is worse. If you don't like it: delete "dis1_enc.dlg" and restore it from USM if you have that mod. 3) There are balancing issues on Malachor, depending on your equipment and level. If you have some mods installed (like Coruscant and USM), it should not pose a problem. If you havn't, it might. The mod has been tested several times. There may still be issues (it is still BETA). PLEASE send me an e-mail, I will update the mod. TOOLS: My thanks go to Fred Tetra for his ingenious Kotor tool, tk102 for the dialogue editor, Holowan Laboratories and Taris Upper City Emporium for the Tutorials. PERMISSIONS: You may use this mod in every way you wish. Really, don't ask for permissions.
