Though very rare in the Knights of the Old Republic as I discovered over three years ago when I first learned how to mod the game, sound mods have been very popular downloads so you would think others would have tried their attempts. New sound additions to replace default sounds can really enhance and add enjoyment playing a video game.
Oddball_E8 makes his FileFront debut to add new types of sounds into the first Knights of the Old Republic game. It can be hard to describe what you’re getting in new sounds, but I can tell you that most of them are different from any of the sound mods I’ve ever released, so if you’re looking for something new again or haven’t tried one out yet, you could give this a try.
What you will get is some new blaster sounds, close combat sounds, grenade sounds, impact sounds, and lightsaber sounds.
One of the highlights of the new lightsaber sounds are the new clash sounds and you have Count Dooku’s lightsaber on sound when he first turned his lightsaber on to fight Obi-Wan Kenobi at the Geonosis hangar (the rest of the time Dooku’s lightsaber made the traditional Sith on sound).
The grenade sounds really sound like loud explosions, so if you’re looking at having something that sounds like it gave a big hurt, you may want to look into this. The new sword sounds really have loud impact sounds that really make the combat sound intense. The blaster sounds are interesting enough; my favorite has to be the second power blast shot; very cool.
If you’re whining and crying already that this mod was released for the first Knights of the Old Republic game, fear not. This mod can be installed into Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and the sounds will work there too. Hopefully people will read the review and not jump the gun on questions.
