One area of the game that never gets any attention until now is the members of the Black Vulkar gang in the Lower City of Taris in the 2003 game of the year, Knights of the Old Republic. Many Vulkars that you run into in the game are of the Nikto species. These are the guys that I was talking about that never get any attention. Well, that is all about to change.

Mattz (also known as Obtenebration) is back with six different re-skins for each of the different Nikto species you run into from the original Knights of the Old Republic game while trying to make your way through Taris along with Carth Onasi, Mission Vao, and Zaalbar, searching for Bastila Shan and finding a way to escape Taris without the Sith realizing what happened.

These new skins give all the Nikto Black Vulkars new skin textures and colors to give you a change in what you see while running into multiple different ones that you eventually have to gun down when they see you since they do attack you on site. The skins look great and they are something I will try out the next time I play through the game to give a new variety to me because I like the work behind it. Enjoy the skins! :D

A KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC MODIFICATION

DESCRIPTION:  This mod reskins all the Nikto species of Black Vulkars that you encounter on Taris.  I got tired of seeing the same enemies in those same uniforms. Plus I thought the originals were a little too brightly designed – I couldn’t fear anything in those red and orange uniforms.  I included a bonus for those who reskin or would like to start.  This way if you don’t like mine, you can make your own more easily.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:  Just dump the TGA and TXI files from the “For Override” folder into your override folder in the SWKOTOR directory.

The N_Swoopgang_low.tga was created somewhat as an afterthought.  I am not sure if the game actually uses either the model or the texture.  I thought the Vulkar barflies in Javyar’s Cantina might use this, but when I checked they were based on the N_Swoopgang01 texture and model.  So the N_Swoopgang_low.tga might be useless, but if you like the texture better than one of the others, you can rename them.  It will work with both models. 

ADDITIONAL:  I have also included the “source” file – "N_Swoopgang01 all parts.pdn" – for those who would like to have a head start.  The PDN file in the “For Modders or Starters” folder has all of the major parts of the original skin cut in to layers – though I’m sure some layers could be broken down even more.  This file can be altered with the Paint.Net program. My erasing job isn’t perfect, nor is the layer order probably the best – but it’ll give you a start. 

Paint.Net is a user-friendly, free paint program that can be found easily on the internet. 

BUGS:  No known bugs, but please let me know if there are any found.

PERMISSIONS:  Please let me know if you would like to use my skins for anything (Dark Jedi Nikto?), but just in case I become unreachable at Holowan (or otherwise), you can use it without - try and reach me first, though.  PM me at Holowan at the Lucas Forums.  Please give me credit for my involvement, though.  Thanks.
