KOTOR Jedi Robe Model Mod

Back in late 2004, an author named Xavier2 made this mod called InSidious Plot. It was an added storyline for the first Knights of the Old Republic game. The coolest feature was the altered robe model that the author did. He got Prime to do the skins for the new model and all of a sudden you had some new robes that looks very much like the prequel style tunics you saw in the Prequel Trilogy.

The mod was lost when PCGM went offline for good. I talked to Prime on MSN about restoring at least the robe part of the mod and not only did he have plans for that, but he decided to make a huge robe mod out of it. It took a couple of months, but Prime was able to do it and now we got ourselves a realistic looking robe mod out there that really puts the BioWare style of robes to shame.

This mod gives the male characters 23 new robes to use. Some of the textures will resemble robes seen in the movies such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu. There will be others robe textures that made brief Prequel appearances and there also are some original looking custom ones that the author came up with on his own. The author added some new UTI files for some of the new robes to make sure all 23 had support. Some you will get through game play while others you will have to use the cheat console. Prime has made sure that there is a very detailed readme file so you will know how to get access to them.

Keep in mind that since the model was made for male characters only. Since Xavier2 only made a male version of the model and it was back in 2004, don't expect a female version to be made. Enjoy these sweet looking robes! :D

Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future.

This mod attempts to add the most "realistic" Jedi robes possible. There are 23 different robes and all are variations on those seen in the prequel Star Wars films. The model is a highly modified version of the default robe model.

All the robes wearable by player characters have been replaced by new versions. In addition to replacing the default robes, additional robes have been included, and are available through cheat codes.

The robes can be installed using by the following steps:

Step 1.
Extract all the files into the Override folder in the KOTOR directory.

Step 2 (Optional).
To enable cheats, in your game directory edit swkotor.ini and under [Game Options]
add EnableCheats=1. Start the game then when playing press ' to bring down the consoleprompt. At the console prompt, type "giveitem <item name>" to add the item to the inventory.

The item names are:

Simply remove all the files from the Override directory.

Modding Information:

For those who wish to have different textures used with different robes, simply rename the texture file to the name used by the desired robe. Below is a list of all the robes and the textures that they use:

Item file Texture file Icon file
g_a_jedirobe01.uti -> pmbi01.tga -> ia_jedirobe_001.tga
g_a_jedirobe02.uti -> pmbi02.tga -> ia_jedirobe_002.tga
g_a_jedirobe03.uti -> pmbi03.tga -> ia_jedirobe_003.tga
g_a_jedirobe04.uti -> pmbi04.tga -> ia_jedirobe_004.tga
g_a_jedirobe05.uti -> pmbi05.tga -> ia_jedirobe_005.tga
g_a_jedirobe06.uti -> pmbi06.tga -> ia_jedirobe_006.tga
g_a_kghtrobe01.uti -> pmbi07.tga -> ia_kghtrobe_007.tga
g_a_kghtrobe02.uti -> pmbi08.tga -> ia_kghtrobe_008.tga
g_a_kghtrobe03.uti -> pmbi09.tga -> ia_kghtrobe_009.tga
g_a_kghtrobe04.uti -> pmbi10.tga -> ia_kghtrobe_010.tga
g_a_kghtrobe05.uti -> pmbi11.tga -> ia_kghtrobe_011.tga
g_a_mstrrobe01.uti -> pmbi12.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_012.tga
g_a_mstrrobe02.uti -> pmbi13.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_013.tga
g_a_mstrrobe03.uti -> pmbi14.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_014.tga
g_a_mstrrobe04.uti -> pmbi15.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_015.tga
g_a_mstrrobe05.uti -> pmbi16.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_016.tga
g_a_mstrrobe08.uti -> pmbi17.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_017.tga
g_a_mstrrobe09.uti -> pmbi18.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_018.tga
g_a_mstrrobe10.uti -> pmbi19.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_019.tga
g_a_mstrrobe11.uti -> pmbi20.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_020.tga
g_a_mstrrobe12.uti -> pmbi21.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_021.tga
g_a_mstrrobe13.uti -> pmbi22.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_022.tga
g_a_mstrrobe14.uti -> pmbi23.tga -> ia_mstrrobe_023.tga

Example: to have the g_a_kghtrobe01.uti robe use texture pmbi16.tga, rename pmbi16.tga to pmbi07.tga and pmbi07.tga to pmbi16.tga. In addition, change the icon file name ia_mstrrobe_016.tga to ia_kghtrobe_007.tga and ia_kghtrobe_007.tga to ia_mstrrobe_016.tga.

Known Issues:

There are several imperfections with the model due to the difficulty in manipulating the default model. The texture is overstretched, in some cases extremely so. This results in some discolouration in different lighting. The model and textures are not perfect, but as close as we could get. :)

The biggest thanks of course is to Xavier2 for his excellent work on the model. He did a great recreation using a limited starting point.

Thanks to Fred Tetra for creating the truly fantastic kotor editing tool. Also a appreciative shout out to the many friendly folks at the Lucasforums' Holowan Laboratories board who have provided guidance and insight as well as answering numerous questions.

Finally, thanks to Bioware for making a truly kick ass game...
