Malak's Betrayal

Well, this mod is a special one for this site because it’s the 500th mod uploaded on this site in 2007. Congratulations to KotorFiles for its growth this year. May the year 2008 continue its wonderful growth. Actually there are some good mods that are planning on being released in 2008, so keep coming to check up on us.

Okay, let’s move on to the mod itself. This time we got ourselves a launcher that will be added to the Knights of the Old Republic launcher collection. If you like trying out new launchers to launch your game into action instead of using the direct button into your game, then this will make you happy.

This launcher features an event that happened before the events of the first Knights of the Old Republic game. It was Bastila’s Jedi strike team that snuck aboard Darth Revan’s ship to capture the Dark Lord. The picture featured for the launcher itself is right after Bastila Shan says, “You cannot win, Revan!” I always found that to be a very powerful scene.

There is around a 5 to 6 second music clip that plays when you turn on the launcher. When highlighting the buttons to get to where you want to go, a red and a blue lightsaber cross paths, which I think is pretty cool.

There is something a little off about the launcher when you see Bastila’s team trying to capture Revan. It says Obsidian Entertainment instead of BioWare. Obsidian made Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, while BioWare made the first Knights of the Old Republic game. That would be a feature I would have changed.

When you unzip the contents of the mod, put them into the launcher folder, not the override folder. If you want to save your current launcher, either move those files or rename the folder and create a new folder called Launcher. Enjoy the launcher! :D
