Update time continues. Sometimes authors make mods and realize later that there can be improvements made, even shortly after you release your mod. It’s funny how your mind can work sometimes. Authors think everything they’ve done is final and then realize that there is something they want or need to change only after they have had their file uploaded to the public. This is the case with this mod release.
Gavroche returns shortly to bring some slight changes to his previous mod release from yesterday for the first Knights of the Old Republic game. To catch people up, the change with this mod is using Bastila’s lightsaber file that was leftover from BioWare that they never put into game play, and even scripted it to be put into Bastila’s hand and flourish the weapon if you get it in your inventory when you rescue Bastila from Brejik. The inspiration for this mod was because of the concept art of Bastila using the color the author has made. The original idea for Bastila’s character was she was suppose to be the daughter of Nomi Sunrider when the game was being developed it was just fitting to give the daughter of Nomi the same lightsaber color as her mother’s. So when that idea was dropped, so was the lightsaber blade color and thus it went to yellow because they made Bastila a Jedi Sentinel.
To catch up what’s different is the color shade of the lightsaber blade for Bastila. The author gave a new screenshot with the change so you can compare it to the original release and the original yellow color too. The biggest update to those who have trouble with modding their KOTOR game is now this mod uses the TSL Patcher to update the upcrystals.2da file for you instead of having to learn how to make it compatible with your personal one in your override folder. Enjoy the update! :D
Note: Please leave the author feedback, especially if you download this mod and use it. It really helps encourage the author to make more mods in the future.
A KotOR Mod made by Gavroche contact:remus.stern<at>hotmail.fr /========================================================\ | | NEW COLOUR | FOR BASTILA'S LIGHTSABER | - SHADE OF GREEN FOR CONCEPT ART | \========================================================/ v1.1 ; size~784ko |/ Description and comments |.5/ What's new in v1.1 ? ||/ Installation time |||/ Compatibility and known bugs /!\ TO SHEM'S SUPER ENHANCED MOD USERS /!\ |\// Thanks \// Disclaimer /=============================\ | |/ Description and comments \=============================/ This mod allows you to wield the great yet unused g_w_dblsbr006, aka Bastila's lightsaber. Why great ? Because the crystals you put on it are way more efficient on her saber than on a standard one. They work as they do with HotG and MotF. But that's not all. I also gave it an unique colour, based on the one seen on the concept art. Bastila was not an average Jedi, she deserved her own colour, and this one suits her well IMHO. To explain further, I played KotOR after tSL and when I saw the cover of the game, I thought "Wow! That green-yellowish shade just rocks! At last something different from the standard and bothering old colours!", and of course, I got completly pwn'd. OK, the yellow suits her well, but I really missed that shade in-game. (BTW, Thanks to Stoffe for the green saber in CSA4, it was a nice surprise :]) /===========================\ | |.5/ What's new in v1.1 ? \===========================/ 1/ I just figured out how to use TSLPatcher. /me waits until laughs eventually fall silent 2/ Thus I'm pleased to tell you this Mod is now compatible with any one you already installed. 3/ Changed *slightly* the yellow shade in Bastila's saber. Very, very, very much a lot slightly. See screenshot. The thing is that in KotOR it is very hard to get a proper yellow color, you even have to make it orange with GIMP to have what you want. I hope it will suit you players. 4/ Corrected a spelling error in the previous readme. Yeah, I don't know what to put in this section, so I'm filling it with rubbish '^^ /=======================\ | ||/ Installation time \=======================/ Run Bastilassaber_newcolor.exe to install the Mod. To uninstall, erase all the files that belong to this Mod present in your Override folder, which are : - upcrystals.2da - w_dblsbr006.mdl - w_dblsbr006.mdx - w_lsbrebast01.txi - w_lsbrebast01.tga - iw_dblrsbr_006.tga - iw_sbrcrstl_074.tga - tar03_brejik031.utc - bast_temp_saber.uti - crys_bast.uti - g_w_dblsbr006.uti - k_ptar_hassaber.ncs - k_ptar_lootbreji.ncs To get the saber in-game, no difficulty. Just kill Brejik as usual. Whether you search his corpse or not is unimportant. If your save is post-Taris, then open the console and type "giveitem g_w_dblsbr006" without the quotes. /===================================\ | |||/ Compatibility and known bugs \===================================/ This mod uses an altered version of upcrystals.2da, but thanks to the TSLPatcher there shouldn't be any problem concerning compability. Anyway, I just finished a playthrough with Shem's Super Enhanced Mod, and as sabers are much more powerful in it, I made a second version of Bastila's Saber to match his weapons. When you finished the installation of the mod, copy the file present in the "SupEnhancedMod_compatible" folder and paste it in your Override. You will be asked to overwrite, agree to do it. As for bast_temp_saber.uti, never mind it, it's the saber used in the cutscene on the Leviathan. You will never have it in your Inventory (and that's a good thing, as I was too lazy to set the LocalStrings to English :p). Speaking about languages. I DID translated the two (three with SEM's version) files' LocalStrings into English. But if the items show up in-game with no description, don't panic, I guess it just bugged Force-knows-where-and-when. Just use tk102's DLG/UTI/UTC/MOD Language Converter 1.0 (downloadable at SWK). /==============\ | |\/ / Thanks \==============/ Not much to say here. Fred Tetra already knows he's KotorFans' Chosen One, and worshipped as such. All the toolmakers have now so many eternal thanks they don't know what to do with them. I still thank DarthDingDong from SWK for his tutorial. /=================\ | \/ / Disclaimer \=================/ Kotor/2Files Staff tell us to put it so I put it :p THIS MODIFICATION IS PROVIDED AS-IS AND IS NOT SUPPORTED BY BIOWARE/OBSIDIAN ENTERTAINMENT OR LUCASARTS OR ANY LICENSERS/SPONSORS OF THE MENTIONED COMPANIES.
