You know what I like? Mods that are done decently, originally, or some (better yet, all) of both. It feels like a number of the files I've uploaded recently have been .uti edits or 2-minute reskins - while we all have to start somewhere, it does get tiring after a while.
In any case, redrob41brings us some fairly well-done skins for Sand People of all things. The basic look is the same, but it adds various bits of armor to their robes or changes them to semi-Jedi/Sith-ish ones. It's definitely an essential download if you play your character as a Sand Person for whatever reason, but it's still a useful one even if you don't. A few .utc edits to the various Tuskens in the game, and you'll have given their appearances some much-needed variety. (All things considered, wouldn't they salvage the armor of the Czerka they've killed?)
Note: Please remember to give the author of the mod feedback, as the download count isn't particularly verbose. Written comments tend to be much more useful and encouraging.
Playable Sand People for K1 by RedRob41 ================================================================ IF YOU ARE EVER IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT INSTALLING ANY MODS, PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR FILES BEFORE INSTALLATION, JUST IN CASE. WARNING: THIS INSTALLER MAY REPLACE ANY FILES OF THE SAME NAME THAT ARE ALREADY PRESENT IN YOUR OVERRIDE FOLDER! ================================================================ Description: This will add a playable Sand Person Male to the game. He will have complete armours for all six classes, Jedi robes, Star Forge robes, and standard clothes. There are a total of seven models and 58 textures. The basis of these models and textures is the Sand People disguise (n_tusken.mdl & N_Tusken04.tga). They have been modified to look as if he is wearing his favourite desert robe and back pack over top of the armour. The armour gauntlets fit over top of the sleeves of his robe, and the chest plate peeks out from the frong opening. For some of the medium and heavy armours, he wears a jet pack, with controls on his chest strap (it is non-functional, but impressive looking). The Jedi robes look like long jacketed versions of the standard robes, without any back pack. The Star Forge armours are similar to the in-game set, but with the cape, belt, & hood all removed, and instead, a Tusken version of Revan's Mask. The LS version has a mask that is inspired by A'Sharrad Hett's helmet ("Emissaried to Malastare" comic). These final two armours are my favourites, because of the masks. ================================================================ Directions: Please click TSLPatcher (InstallMod).exe to start Installation. To complete the effect, so that your PC will sound like a Tusken, use the Kotor Savegame Editor (KSE) to change the soundset. The only problems that I know of, are 1 - At the beginning of the game on the Endar Spire, he will disappear for the first dialog with Trask. Simply open the footlocker and equip some clothes to make him visible again. 2 - This may happen again after training to become a jedi on Dantooine. When the cutscene ends, he will be invisible while talking to Master Zhar. Again, just equip some clothes to make him visible again. 3 - During the cutscene where Revan removes his mask, his head will appear invisible. 4 - He will still need to wear the Sand Person disguise on Tatooine. I like to think that this is because he is from a different Tribe with different markings and moisture trap (face mask). 5 - Everyone, including all the Sand People on Tatooine, will still refer to you as a human. It would require editing EVERY piece of dialog in the game to fix it, and that is TOO much. 6 - There are some minor model deformations and transparancies that I can't fix (they are part of the original n_tusken.mdl). They shouldn't be very noticable unless the game is paused during combat. Uninstall: Delete all the mdl, mdx, & tga files from the override directory, and replace the 2da files with backups (or manually delete the entries with Kotor Tool). ================================================================ Disclaimer: By downloading and using any of my mods you agree that I will not be held responsible if anything goes wrong with your computer because of your use of my files.
