I don't know anything about that war, other than the fact that Principal Skinner fought in it.

That is so incredibly sad that It defies words. The education system has failed you.

Theres not much to learn about Vietnam that isn't made obvious by a serious study of both or either the history of cold war politics or the current occupation of Iraq, so if you understand one of those you really don't need to know. Its basically on the same level as the Spanish-American War and the Mexican-American war, the former of which perhaps is more important to know. The most important conflicts from a history student perspective is the American Civil War, the Crusades (rarely would I mention pre-modern history except in this case), The Russian Civil War (surprised?), WW1, WW2 and probably the current war, though that could be a bit limited in vision. I consider myself a genius.

Vietnam would make a smashing if historically false game. Great backdrop for carnage. I'd definitely buy it if it worked for my CPU, but it prob wouldn't lol.

I don't believe EA has brains, thus why I assume it will be historically grotesque in its portrayal of what Mccain calls "gooks" and the like. I'd rather play as the defending peasant than as the invading, raping, looting pillaging blank-brained American pig if I had the choice (I had to make up for citing the ethnic slur. Today they use "Haajii").

First off, Vietnam is one word, not Viet Nam. Seriously, what's going on with the polls lately and all these errors? Secondly, and more on-topic, I honestly don't think Vietnam has been overlooked. Rather, it hasn't been seen as something that would get profits, or something that would allow for a proper story. How would they end it, anyways? We never really finished that war. Vietnam isn't the type of material to use for a Medal of Honour game, in my opinion. There have been multiple games that take place in Vietnam, none of which I have played, but I have only seen a handfull. There a LOT more on WW2, and plenty of modern-time games, but Vietnam doesn't get the same attention. I think this is a sign, not of being overlooked, but rather seen as unprofitable. There have been some that saw the lack of Vietnam games and took it as an opportunity... Good for them. But on a whole, I don't think the Gaming industry sees it as profitable. (Which is the ONLY reason a major developer makes a game.)
We never really finished that war.
i don't know who you mean by ''we'' but we americans did when president gerald ford announced the end to the war and all united states aid to the conflict during a televised speech on 4-23-75 .

Give the smart lady a prize. Think she pretty much nailed that one, it's nice to see Occam's Razor at work. Nuff said. Samboring: Don't overlook the importance of the Boer Wars in setting the stage for WWI and becoming a proving ground for the modern low-intensity conflict. There are many lessons to be learned there that apply today. What's the difference between genius and stupidity?... Genius has limits.

PKM, you're a FileFront Staff, DON'T DOUBLE POST. <_< And I am a grammar-freak, so I do expect (Especially on a site like this) proper grammar use by the staff and on the polls. User-submitted items I can forgive, but when a staff-member puts up a poll, I expect them to check it for errors. In the last poll, I could forgive your use of MoHAA to describe the entire frachise to a point, but I would expect a grown man like you to know how to spell Vietnam properly. As for your other post, forgive me if I am misinformed, but from what I have heard and understood, we never actually /finished/ the war, but rather /left./ One president said "Lets help them out" and then the next president said "We should be here" and then we pulled out. We didn't finish it, we /left./ We, as you said stopped all United States aid to the conflict. That's not saying we won, or did what we intended when we went in, or what we intended before we decided to pull out. That is my reasoning for saying "We never really finished the war." Forgive me if I am misinformed. And to Xenophon, what lady are you talking about, and what is this "Occam's Razor" you speak of? *Looks up on Wikipedia* Ohh, I think I understand it now. But my other statement still stands. Who is this lady you speak of?

That would be you kattfire, and I have no idea of your gender. It was meant as something a carnie would say when someone gets the right answer , not as a slight.

For future reference, Xenophon, I'm male. <_< But whatever, I get called female far too often, but it still gets annoying. Also, sorry PKM, I didn't realize you LIKED making MoHFiles look like an amatuer site. I don't know what the Staff do behind the scenes regularly, but from my point of view, it really looks like the staff is lazy and don't care about the site too majorly. Yes, you may have lives to live, but surely that won't detract from simple spelling and grammar. And fine, I'll start using e-mails to complain, although that will simply be ignore too, methinks.
Also, sorry PKM, I didn't realize you LIKED making MoHFiles look like an amatuer site.
if you, as a member are coming to this site simply to correct grammatical errors, you may not understand what this site is for . i would suggest a collegiate themed website/message board . if a grammatical error so moves you to anger, this may not be the site for you . in the end, if you are going to critique every poll, news item, comment and READ ME for grammatical errors, could i would suggest you keep your own spell check on . you haven't sent an email to me with your concerns so to assume you will be ignored is either further fulling your beliefs that you are always ignored or you are incorrectly assuming an action that has never been validated . kitten, i ask that you think more often before you type in here to avoid these discussions .

I would like a medal of honor the player being a Vietcong to kill us soldiers

#18 - Posted by: kattfire (Member) on 06-23-2008 at 12:27
I understand what the site is for, and you should know very well I am not simply here to correct grammar. I used to play MoHAA, and I used this site to find and use mods, as it is meant. I even have submitted numerous PotDs, despite their low quality. I never really added to the community, as I can't really make mods, but oh well. Certainly not for the lack of trying. But I do love how we went from arguing about spelling/grammar and games about Vietnam, to just spelling and grammar. So, back on topic. I'm not sure who would even want to MAKE the game... Who wants to make a game in which the player shoots at, not only Vietnamese soldiers, but also women and children with bombs strapped onto them, running straight for you? I wouldn't want to be the one to make those models.

Katt, he's my lacky. He can make errors like that. I am the manager, therefor I can't make mistakes :P Conclusion: PKM-Allowed to make mistakes. Falcon93-Can't make mistakes. Off topic now, so get back on topic or the commenting shall close! :mepimp:

 #20 - Kat I have a solution - Posted by: Samboring (Member) on 06-23-2008 at 18:36
I vote for T34s proposal, all you have to do is model Seymour Skinner, Kerry, Mccain, and Forest Gump, you don't have to do no peasant families. I want to play as the just defender trying to liberate the country, not the aggressor. Its like if MOH did the wermacht instead of the rangers. Though, that would be a good idea........

 #21 - lacky ? - Posted by: PKM (Staff) on 06-23-2008 at 19:45
typical, enslave the irish .

this is invasion, i was just bored and read this poll. i love Vietnam games such as Vietcong 1,2 and men of valor. i was in the marines for quite some time, and my drill sergeant always used to tell me about the Vietnam war. It was very educational, and it wasn't important at all. We were just preventing 1 country from having a civil war, and i think if you were to put yourself in a mans/soldiers shoes in that war, u wouldn't last a day in a jungle filled with trapped ground and booby traps. I think people should understand what these poor people went through. My grandpa always told me, "when you are playing those games just think that those people had families and kids and wives and mother fathers and you are killing them and making them suffer. We kill not only for lust and power but for money and consequence. I think all wars should end, knowing that wouldn't happen makes me upset and most veterans out their are probably happy to rest in peace. I know i would if i went through all that fighting. But how would you know where to go would the lord save you or would he forsaken you. There are things that disturb me about political rights and i think that it should all just stop let them fight their war let them see thier faults the united states has intervened war way to much imo. PS: kat....ive known him for a while, hes a pain sometimes. in the field of grammer. but he is a good guy i used to be bad at grammar hes taught me alot. its not worth fighting for man, its not gunna get u money and its not goin to get u a job only a fight or worse lol
