Mortal Kombat XI launches it's new ranked gameplay mode, known as Kombat League, tomorrow, along with the promise of seasonal rewards for those who are good enough to fight their way up the rankings.
It begins with the Season of Blood, which will last for four weeks, and promises that players can earn all-new skins and gear for fighting their way up the ranks. The fights will be structured in the classic best of three style, and there's nine ranks to advance through, starting with Apprentice and going all the way up to the highest rank, known as Elder God. Much like in other e-sports, each rank has it's own unique set of cosmetics that will unlock if you're at that rank when the season ends, as well as getting an icon and background reflecting the highest rank they obtained that season.
There'll be a new meter introduced, too, that gives players the odds that they'll be successful in the match being made, but fear not, as the ranking system will ensure players are matched with opponents of a similar skill level to them, so hopefully one-sided whitewashes will be something of rarity.
There's new daily and season quests to take part in too, which bring their own rewards. Quests may include taking part in a ranked match each day, or spilling 10,000 pints of blood in ranked combat.
The new ranked mode and the Season of Blood both start today, June 18th, and will run for four weeks.
